Epic Armoury's new Alaric Chainmail Hood is a flexible mail armour coif made from linked steel rings. The mail covers the head, neck and shoulders. Each butted ring interlocks with four other rings in a 4-in-1 design. Treated with Epic Armoury’s Dark Metal coat to prevent rust, you can expect this armour to last a long time as reenactment gear with proper metal care.

The Alaric Chainmail is mail great for heavy medieval infantry and sergeants, as well as early knights. Wear it over one of our undercaps and add a Crusader, Norman or Spangen helmet on top for the most comfort and authentic wear. ThinkGeek started as an idea. A simple idea to create and sell stuff that would appeal to the thousands of people out there who were on the front line and in the trenches as the Internet was forged. And so it is with your own armour!
Humidity, expansion and contraction in the heat, UV radiation, rain, and the withering blows of your enemies all conspire to expose your armour to rust, but worse yet, your very own precious bodily fluids conspire to corrode it from the inside with their impurities and corruption! (which is why we only ever drink pure grain alcohol or rainwater)

You could coat your armour (and other metal objects) in a regular run of the mill lubricant, but many of them are actively hydrophobic. Great for metal but terrible for leather, cotton and other organic materials!

Lanox MX4 is a lanolin rich lubricant, and lanolin is the oil that is naturally produced by sheep to prevent them from shrinking in the rain and generally remain weather proof! It is superior to many artificial compounds and does not damage leathers or organic fibres.
