This Roman-inspired sword is of unparalleled finesse. Made of Calimacil foam, this battle-ready sword requires minimal maintenance and will give you years of fierce battles against your opponents.

The anatomy of the sword, typical of Hispaniensis-type gladius, features a steel-colored oversized pommel (obviabis) with copper details, a reddish boiled leather-like hilt, and a finely crafted rounded hilt of copper details.

Epic Armoury’s Roman Trooper with Red Plume is a helmet inspired by the classical legionnaire’s helm. Featuring ear-flaps, a brow bar, cotton inlay and an open face, this helmet is a comfortable solution without sacrificing vision or protection. The helm is reinforced with rolled-brass lining around the cheek guards and forehead, and embossed with floral brass rivets. A vibrant red plume of faux hair has been added to this helmet’s crest, creating a particularly impressive silhouette.

Secure the Roman Trooper helmet by tightening the leather strap beneath the chin, keeping the helmet in place. Epic Armoury’s Roman Belt is a belt inspired by the military belt worn by ranking Roman soldiers. The Roman Belt’s five hanging leather plates and metal fittings protect the groin, but ultimately this is more for a show of rank than for armour.

But with steel also comes disadvantages like weight, inflexibility and the need for constant maintenance to protect against rust. The Gladius, Latin for sword, was used by the Romans between the 4th Century B.C. and the 2nd Century of the current era. Its length was traditionally between 64cm and 81cm and was decorated with either the Imperial Eagle or with the images of Romulus and Remus (who were nursed by a she-wolf according the Roman legend of the foundation of Rome). 

Several examples of Gladius swords were found in the town of Pompeii which was destroyed by a volcanic eruption that also preserved the forms of Pompeiians and their weapons.
