AVAST YE, SCALLYWAG!

Screeching gulls circled above our heads as we made our way to the coast. Our coats were no match for the relentless wind, but our attention was fixed on the flamboyant figures awaiting where waves meet the sand. Their curved cutlasses were drawn, and I understood this would be a standoff with skulls and crossbones, as promised. But my cutlass was sharper!

The Curved Cutlass is an iconic weapon for any naval character or urban character connected to shady establishments at the harbours. The weapon is inspired by designs used during the Age of Sail, which forms the setting in most maritime novels. While a cutlass may fit perfectly in the hands of a pirate, it is worth noting that the versatile design allows application with a wide range of characters, such as bold buccaneers, stout seafarers, decisive dock workers or bodacious bandits. Wealthier characters might instead wield a Curved Sabre. Despite status and station, any decent cutlass should have a story (or several) regarding the acquisition of the weapon. Which ones will you tell the crew?

Sure you could* use this to fasten rope around a fixed point on a yard arm, but it's much more effective as an improvised weapon to slug someone in near quarters.

You are part of a small group of men that have been secretly conspiring against your captain for weeks now. The time to act has come; the captain has grown suspicious and your chance to take control of the ship may slip away from you like badly secured rigging slipping through your hands during a storm.

You catch him standing alone on deck staring into the distant horizon. This has to be done quickly and quietly. You wallop your Belaying Pin swift and hard on the back of this poor bugger’s head before he can even scream: “Mutiny!”

Who wears short shorts?

Mytholon's Franklin pants are perfectly suited for pirates or seamen.
These pants boast a straight cut and end just above the knees. The codpiece at the front hides the two buttons the pants are closed with, and it looks nice to boot. The codpiece is detachable. The waistband can be adjusted with a strap in the back. The belt loops at the waistband provide the possibility to wear a belt or a colourful strip of cloth. The pant legs each have a strip of five buttons that can be opened for more comfort.

Epic Armoury’s “tricorne” Pirate Hat is handmade from natural full-grain quality leather and sturdy stitching, embellished with cotton canvas and laced leather around the brim. The Hybrid Cavalier Sword is a medium sword inspired by the cavaliers of the 1600s, imitating their reckless attitudes and rich sense of style. The sword is 75 cm long and has a 51 cm single-edged blade that gets wider toward the end. The handle has impressive detail, including a crossguard that curves around the hand, connecting to the pommel. The handle is handpainted to looks like faded bronze. The 14 cm grip is cast and painted to look like ribbed leather, ergonomically shaped to fit the hand.

A BLADE WITH ELVEN GRACE
