Alongside sword and shield, the crack of flintlock pistols now echoes across the field — a reminder that the world is shifting, and only the bold will shape what comes next.
Ancient rivalries simmer beneath uneasy truces. Reputation carries weight. Gold buys loyalty — but never trust.

We're pleased to announce that Of Science & Swords, Australia's premier supplier of LARP goods, has been approved to supply you wonderful roleplayers with digital downloads when you purchase your TTRPG texts with us!
Oh, you weren't aware that we do TTRPG?
  Well surprise!
That's right, OSAS has been selling tabletop roleplaying games for the past 6 months as well. We feel that this is a natural expansion on our mission to provide you with the best live RPG experience. After all, not everything can be done as a LARP, and not every one can participate in every LARP. Sometimes you can't LARP. Maybe you've broken a foot. Maybe it was caused by falling through a boardwalk in Canberra as you were attempting to get tacos. However it happened, for whatever reason (tacos are a good one), you're using the tabletop now and we're happy to assist with that!
We've got a comprehensive range of all of the most popular RPG systems and additional modules for them, as well as some of the more obscure ( Candela Obscura , anyone?) titles.
And if it has a digitised version, thanks to the folks at Bits-and-Mortar we're able to supply you with a back up copy.

It's time to go through the grey pile. We're going to help you to make your miniatures game worthy!

Since the closure of the Oakleigh Warhammer store and it's move to Chadstone, there have been a few folks, us included, that feel cast somewhat adrift. Where do we go for community and painting days now? No doubt the new store in Chadstone will have those things, but the issue is less the store itself and where it's located: Australia's premiere maul experience, pun intended.
Chadstone is a great place but it's also a recipe for overstimulation.
If you're looking for that chill experience of just rocking up to the local shop, where it's nice and quiet (except for someone rapidly losing a 2000pt game), and painting or playing there's not much choice left in the suburbs surrounding Monash Uni's Clayton campus.

We're aiming to bring that back.

With the first event this Sunday the 26th, starting at noon Of Science & Swords in order to pick up any paints & miniatures one may need, we will proceed to Pixel Bar at 1:00pm for paintings n pints. (Spend $50 or more in store at Of Science & Swords on miniatures or paints and the first drink from the taps, soft drink, or house spirits is on us!)
  Don't have paints? Don't worry!
We've got some free use paints from Vallejo. We may not have the exact colour you're needing, but we've got a lot.
Don't have minis? We're happy to give you one!
We're legitimately just trying to have a fun acticvity, with a great community, in a chill environment.
So bring your unpainted armies, bring a friend or two, and come paint with us.
When: Sunday, October 26th Noon at Of Science & Swords followed by 1pm-5pm at Pixel Bar & Cafe
Cost: It costs nothing, but please be courteous to the host venue and purchase a drink or two.
Please note that you or your miniautres may be photographed during this event. If you do not wish for that to happen, please politely inform anyone taking photos.

We have danced this dance for more than a century. From the West come the proud Cantons of Garmont . From the East, the otherworldly Vicarians . Here we converge, in a hidden valley of the Spire Mountains, returning once again to the hallowed grounds of the Dance of Ribbons .
This auspicious year, the seasons and stars have aligned; The Dance of Ribbons will be held on Reaper’s Eve , when Ioites celebrate the welcoming of the light. But a strange song is on the wind; these lands, these people of Vicaria and Garmont will be tested again. Are they strong enough to dance to the oldest tune?

Do not give them your name, do not give them your hand, leave your horseshoes above your doors, and pray you are forgotten…

Following the events of the Dance of the Swept (seven years ago) – the festival where the Land hungered for spirits - an ever-lasting spring settled over the land. The Dance of the Trickster God , two years ago, seemed to cure these ills - when Ioities and Sidhe-believers came together. But, as always, things were not as simple as they seemed. A Fey visitation sowed discord between Vicaria and Garmont. And the ever-present threat of Francia looms larger than ever before.
A Dance of Ribbons is a love letter to those role players who love intricate stories, deep narratives, and embodying characters with love and care. A Dance of Ribbons III is the final instalment of the trilogy.

Garmont takes a lot of inspiration from 15th- 17th century Dutch, Swiss and German dress, and Vicaria sits on a wide variety of pre-Christian Celtic and Slavic designs. However, we are a diverse community, and we want to see it! We aren't interested in one-to-one recreation, and there is almost no tech in this world...but magic and ritual are soaked into this land…Check our website for our comprehensive Kit and Costume guide, and other Setting resources.

Players spend three days competing on behalf of the dragon that they decide aligns most closely with their goals and values.
What story is DrachenFest telling?
Dragons: magnificent, primordial beings more powerful than any army and older than time itself. In this world, these creatures go beyond just being a beast - they are the embodiment of different philosophies and paths that represent all corners of society and moral alignment.
Throughout the ages, many great dragons have clashed and fought to reign over the dragon world … but in this age, the dragons need to find a new way to fight their battles and prove their worth.
At DrachenFest, players feel the call to step through a portal into a world where the power is placed in the hands of mortals. Align yourself with a dragon (camp) and throw all of your talents and skills behind them to fight with your allies for your dragon’s glorious victory.

Swordcraft: Blood and Gold is a Warhammer Fantasy inspired LARP. Current year: 2025
It is the Age of Three Emperors in the Empire.
The Empire is in turmoil. A land united by Sigmar Heldenhammer, since his death the Empire has fallen into petty squabbles. A disagreement led to civil war, with a number of different claimants to the throne. The civil war has a religious aspect in the Empire, it is a war of belief between the cults of Taal, Ulric and Sigmar. Ostermark, Stirland and the northern lands of the Empire are devasted by Vlad von Carstein. Mordheim, the crown of Ostermark and the Empire is destroyed by a Warpstone meteor. Not much is known about Warpstone, except that it is rare and contains many qualities which enhance people and items (some say it is made of evil).

You ever get news that you subconsciously know is coming but don't want to admit the reality of until it's completely undeniable?
It's with incredible sadness that we have to inform you that this Questival will likely be the last. And not just Questival, but potentially the last CultureJam event at all.
If you havne't been to one yet, Questival is all the fun of an acid trip at a music festival without having to actually take drugs or worry about future flashbacks. Hidden stories, secret connections, small seemingly random items of the greatest importance, and weird creatures all stalking your night as music pounds away. CultureJam puts on numerous amazing events frankly. We've promoted as many as we can. Our staff are regular attendees and NPCs. There's something genuinely magical about mixing the unreality of a music festival with the unreality of a live action game, and no one in Australia does it better than the CultureJam guys, but the economic model has never really stacked up. Between what we know of the costs of running these things versus their ticket pricing and crowd sizes we've assumed that they were running by the skin of the teeth and a lot of good will on behalf of their own community providing free resources and services to make it happen. With this news we now know that it was sadly running at a financial loss.
Due to a climate that is beyond challenging for medium-sized events to be sustainable, we will be making Questival our last multi-day event for the foreseeable future, and after will consider what our future looks like. We have a full statement below, but want to invite you all for an epic send off before we enter a new-era and end our 15 years of larger scale epic immersive events with a bang.
We know a number of you would look at a $150 one-day / $250 weekend event ticket and think how expensive that is when there's literally 1,000 tickets available, but we can tell you that that kind of money disappears very quickly in a modern business setting with insurance and venue easily taking a massive bite from it. Then there's the stress of pulling a large scale event together. There's a reason we don't organise our own festivals and weekender format LARP events directly by OSAS. It's a full time job and rarely has the financial compensation commensurate with that workload.
Here's the full statement from the head honcho:

Hey team, this is Micky the director of Culture Jam. It’s been such an honour to attract and nurture such a beautiful community of such caring, creative and expressive legends that come together for each of our events. I’m so grateful for all the creators who build these worlds and all of you awesome humans that go above and beyond in costumes, skits, gifting and joy. In recent years I have felt a deep realisation that the crowd itself has fostered a tangible harm minimisation in the beautiful energy that permeates across each event. This year’s Town presented a huge challenge and increased costs deeply affected myself and the team. We are so proud of what was created but unfortunately it came at a heavy cost and relations with Licola were stretched, leading to them no longer want to host The Town. My plan was to throw one last Town later this year as this felt safe and a great way to go out, however this is no longer possible. I will keep my heart open to The Town coming back in the future in a new light, but for now, I need to take a break from the large personal sacrifices and risk that comes with taking on outdoor festivals. After Questival, Culture Jam is going to take a break and re-assess how it can best operate going forward. I will look at ideas like creating a committee and switching to a Not For Profit, running smaller events, setting up more ongoing creative spaces in the city and doing charity events. It’s a necessary step for myself and the team to make sure we are not burning out and creating a new model that looks after everyone fairly and sustainably. I’m grateful for everyone who donated to the fundraiser and this has gone to paying outstanding Town Crew. I’m sorry it has not led to another Town as this was the goal. I’m hoping all of you come out for one final iteration of Culture Jam as we know it, celebrate our 15 years and conjure that community spirit and success that will put us in the best position for what happens next. I hold enormous gratitude for being able to facilitate some truly incredible moments over so many years with such a beautiful community. I have so much pride to have created spaces for so many crew and artists to grow, for people to heal, lovers to connect and for a creative magic to be felt and shared amongst so many.
Massive love to you all from the bottom of my heart and thanks in advance for your understanding.

So with that said, we urge you to get yourself a Questival Ticket, especially if you've not yet been. It was truly a LARP experience like no other.

Every year, four lively hobbit families reunite during the transition from Spring to Summer. This has been a long-loved
tradition for generations, as they celebrate the turning of the seasons, the health of family & friends, the glory of bragging rights for their family and all-around showcasing the best of all Hobbitses. It started as a lovely outing between friends and grew to include more family and friends until it was simply too large to be so infrequent in planning.

Another problem was, too many Hobbits felt snubbed if they simply weren’t thought of upon invitation. Well, that sorted it. It’d have to happen so that everyone would receive an invite, with not too little notice. Since then, the families have become (rivalries aside) fast friends. The event celebrates the turning of Spring to Summer, the health of family and friends and good-natured competition.

  General Location: Victoria
Event Frequency: Annual. It spans for two and a half consecutive days around November/December
Type of Game: Parlour LARP / CosyLARP - Entirely storyline and RP focused, no combat elements.

  Player Fee : $180 - $230
  Typical Attendance per Event: 100-200
  Age Retrictions : None
Minimum Requirements For New Players : Costume is required, there are workshops and resources that showcase our standards on our website. We also host Costume, Roleplay and Dance workshops ahead of the annual event.

Greetings and salutations to witches, wizards, and sorcerers, one and all! Ravenswood Institute aims to provide you with an unforgettable magical experience.
We aim to run one weekender and a handful of single-day events throughout the year. Single-day events may be in the form of Out of Character workshops, side quests or world expansion one-shots.
The weekend event is a three day long experience, starting Friday evening and ending on Sunday afternoon. While arrival times will be posted for each event, we shall be beginning each game with a Welcoming Feast on Friday night.
This weekend event is catered, meaning that any dietary requirements should be communicated with the team so that you can enjoy the food provided by your ticket. Additionally, the locations chosen for each event will always include shelter, running water, electricity, beds, and bathrooms for your convenience.Through these, the Ravenswood Storyteller Team endeavors to reduce the amount that you will need to pack for our events and make weekend games as accessible as possible.
If you choose to be a player, each event will focus on your journey as a student of Ravenswood Institute where magic is real, and magical experiments can go wondrously right… or horribly wrong. Ravenswood Institute is a location of higher learning, like a Magical University, as such you should consider what goals you have as a student. Do you wish to discover a new way to use magic? Do you wish to finish your degree before heading out into the wider world? Or, are you aiming to finish your life’s work?
Regardless of your answer, Ravenswood Institute is filled with experts of their field to help guide you on your way. We also have a team of dedicated, and wonderfully talented Non-Player Characters (NPCs). They’re there to deliver content, enrich the experiences of the student, and to have a good time themselves of course!
While the Institute has security measures of its own, the world is dangerous. While physical combat will not be allowed - outside of very specific situations - dangerous magical creatures may wander onto the grounds. While magic can be used offensively, there will always be alternative solutions to your problems. After all, magic is supposed to be an incredibly versatile tool in your toolbelt.
As a final note, before you continue through this document, the most important part of Ravenswood LARP is consent. Magic itself revolves around informed consent. This includes both verbal and non-verbal communication methods to check in with your fellow players. The Team will be available to answer any questions that you may have, and provide support along your magical adventure. Auspicious regards, The Ravenswood Institute LARP Storyteller Team

Minimum Clothing/Costuming Standards:
For training events, comfortable, casual clothes are totally okay! For weekend events and Nation Nights a costume that fits into your chosen team is expected.
World Environment:
The World of Faith and Steel
The Continent of Conquest houses two warring Factions.
In the East, the red adorned Empire. The people are ingenuous, disciplined, and highly devout to their immortal leader the Empress Aurora. Under her Blazing Sun they strive for faith and order. The Empire is technologically advanced, with many marvels in the fields of blacksmithing and alchemy. However, the cost of this ingenuity depletes the resources of the land, for which the people suffer.
In the West, the warriors of the Clans, united in their reverence for the natural world. The Clans of Bear, Wolf, Serpent, Boar, Raven and Deer are named for the traits of the animals they embody. They worship elemental Gods; the Mother Tree of the land, the Twin Ravens of the skies, and the Father Serpent of seas and sands. The Gods reflect the cycle of life, death and rebirth considered sacred in the lives of all Clansfolk.
To the South, a wall of Mist has long since been a barrier blocking the Northern peoples from what lays below. In recent years an unprecedented event saw the Mist shifting. What lays beyond remains a mystery to both sides of the War.
This story follows warriors on the front lines as they fight battles in a changing world. Will you join them?
Other events run within this group:
We run a fortnightly, free training event for folks to come and check out Faith and Steel without commitment. Here you get a full new player clearance and loaner weapons if need be. We also run periodic Nation Nights throughout the year that focus more on roleplay and building bonds with your fellow team. Our weekend events run twice a year.
What is Faith and Steel?
Faith and Steel is a combat heavy fantasy LARP based in Western Australia. It runs weekend events twice a year in Boddington as well as smaller day events closer to the Perth metro area. The event focuses on the conflict between two Factions, the Clans and the Empire. The Factions grapple for resources, territory, and advantage in a shifting world.
This LARP involves players choosing a side. They create a character and costume in line with their Faction’s theme. Then, attend an event to roleplay and fight as this character. The event uses LARP safe foam weapons to simulate combat. Roleplay themes tend to focus around war, camaraderie, magic, faith, and humanity. However, at the end of the day this is your story, and it goes where you dare to take it.
How to Get Involved:
The main hub to check out is the Faith and Steel Facebook group. This is our main platform for communicating with players, announcing events and rule changes.
In the files section of this group you’ll find the Rules Document, which will give you a breakdown of how things work and how to create a character. There are also lore documents so you can read up on the world and story.
We run a fortnightly training session in Victoria Park on a Wednesday night. This is a great way to come along, meet people, and learn about the event in a fun, low pressure environment. Training is free with no equipment requirements. Keep an eye on the Faith and Steel Facebook group for more details.

The end is coming? Nah, mate. The end is already here, and you're living in it.
RAGNAROK is a post-apocalyptic science-fantasy LARP set in the perpetual end-times of the 1980s, a time infused with rock, magic, leather, bullets, wizards, and really cool motorbikes. We're influenced by real-world mythology and paragons of the fantasy and survival genres - think Mad Max: Fury Road meets Lord of the Rings meets Fallout: New Vegas meets Shadowrun meets the Shannara Chronicles.
We're a roleplay-oriented LARP with a huge focus on story. The world will change based on the decisions you and your fellow characters make - shape the end of the world as you see fit!
It's your party, and no matter what happens, it's gonna ROCK."
