Ortwin Spaulders

Mytholon's Ortwin torso armour is closed by means of buckles and straps on the sides, so its width is easy to adjust. The generous cut-outs around both arms offer great freedom of movement, while a flexible stomach ring consisting of two segments protects the wearer's lower torso. The rivets emphasise the armour's shape and are a nice detail.

The included collar is attached in the chest area by means of straps at the shoulders as well as two leather strings. The stomach ring features two straps for attaching the matching tassets. The spaulders can also be attached to the torso armour using straps. We recommend wearing a padded vest/gambeson underneath the armour to increase wearing comfort and to better protect yourself against injuries or chafing.

The "Mina" line was made as an armour for women, drawing from historical and fantasy sources for inspiration.

The spaulders are, just like the entire "Mina" series, built similary to the "Balthasar" series: decorations with rivets along the edge beading are a returning design element in both armours. Both armour series can easily be combined with each other. A slim built and swung lines provide a delicate shape to these spaulders. Two moving pieces are flexibly attached by a leather strap to the top plate. The spaulders do not overlap the chest plate and are fastened to the gorget on the top and the upper arm with the bottom strap. Naturally the spaulders can be combined with any other gorget from Mytholon.

Our "Seraphim" spaulders are a special piece for themselves: the design is knowingly not historical, but fantastic. They are made very opulent and underline the aspect of "showing-off" and being impressive.
The segment of the upper arm, holding one of the three blade-breakers, is attached to the wearers body with a single wide leather strap. The two upper blade-breakers are mounted to another moveable part and provide a certain movability despite the size of the spaulders.

The buckle on the top of the spaulders is used to attach them to all of our gorgets and chest plates. These spaulders size is impressive, without loosing it being oversized.

Epic Armoury’s Warrior Shoulderplates are a set of two shoulder guards with spaulders, pauldrons and besagues. The spaulders have five ridged metal plates--or lames--overlaying one another to provide laminate protection of the upper arms. Besauges (small round convex metal shields) tied onto the spaulders with leather cords add further protection to the armpits. The shoulderplates are fastened with leather straps around the biceps and at the shoulder blade, attaching to a breast- and backplate. Epic Armoury breast- and backplates can be purchased separately and have fittings for mounting the shoulders.

Epic Armoury’s Shoulder Plate Giant Dark Warrior are a set of two shoulder guards designed to protect the shoulder-joints and upper arm. This armour’s metal plates overlap one another to provide complete laminate protection. Overlaying the spaulders is a large pauldron, which provides additional protection to joints and armpits. Atop the pauldron a vertical plate sword breaker catches and deflects blows before they can impact the head. The sword breaker is slightly concave and somewhat higher at the back than the front, thus providing protection without impairing vision. Although the armour is designed to match Epic Armoury’s ‘Dark Warrior’ set, it is fully interchangeable with other Epic Armoury armours in order to fully customize your character’s look.

Secure the Shoulder Plate Giant Dark Warrior by tightening the top leather strap onto a breast- or neck-plate, adjusting so that the armour sits comfortably over the shoulder. Keep the armour from further moving by securing an additional top leather strap around the upper arm. Epic Armoury’s Renegade Shoulder is a single spaulder designed to protect the upper arm, shoulder and face. Handcrafted from 1mm thick mild steel, this shoulder guard features three overlapping plates that provide great protection and movement. The shape of the top plate is specifically designed to deflect hits to the shoulder, while also protecting the face thanks to the curved sword breaker. These plates are attached with vegetable tanned leather and steel rivets.

The Renegade Shoulder is designed to match Epic Armoury’s ‘Renegade’ set, a mercenary inspired armour set that is great for many body sizes and types. It can also be paired with other Epic Armoury armours in order to fully customize your character’s look. Secure the Renegade Shoulder by looping the included canvas ties through the leather shoulder piece and the top plate, choosing from the available holes to achieve the best fit. This shoulder piece straps across the chest and back. Finally, strap the second leather strap around the upper arm to keep the armour firmly in place.

Epic Armoury’s Raider Shoulders is a worn and rugged piece of armour protecting the front of your shoulders. Consisting of a spaulder and three overlapping metal pieces The overlapping pieces are held together with two parallell leather straps that keep the joins flexible yet cohesive. The spaulders have a leather strap that can be fastend to a breastplate and another leather strap at the lower part of the armor that is used to wrap around the user's arm. When these two leather straps have been fastend the Raider shoulders offer a high degree of movement and agility. This steel riveted piece has been treated with Epic Armoury's Epic Dark Metal and a speckled brown coat to give the armour a rusted, well used finish.

The Raider Armour is embellished to look eerily like a beast’s flesh. Made of 1 mm thick galvanized mild steel and top-grain leather straps and fittings, this armour piece is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather and metal armour care.
