Kaspar Spaulders

The "Kaspar" spaulders are designed to fit the rest of the series and are made from 4 flexible connected plates based on the historical style.

The dark black burnished areas, in combination with the blank bordering of the burnished variant, upgrade the visual appearance of the "Kaspar" series. Based on the style of German riders' armours from the mid 16th to mid 17th century, the burnished surface is interspersed with blank portions. This makes the armour appear even more massive.

Your squire straps your RFB Mantle around your neck before adding the gorget and helmet. With the helmet placed firmly over your head, you say a prayer to your god and your small unit strikes out onto the road.

Epic Armoury’s Ready-for-Battle Mantle is a quilted cotton pad designed to add comfort and protection beneath your neck and shoulder armour. Made from quilted cotton canvas lined with a soft polyester interior and a medium cotton outer layer, this mantle can be worn on its own or as padding beneath heavy steel or leather armour.

The RFB Mantle is stitched to ensure the padding will remain evenly spaced. Secure it around your neck by tying the cotton strings at the shoulders, allowing for some adjustments. Quilted armours were common through many cultures and used across a broad expanse of time. With its neutral style, the RFB Mantle will work on a wide variety of characters.

• Historically, a high-medieval European gambeson was recorded as being capable of stopping sword blows from penetrating the skin
• Could stop heavy arrows and mace and axe impacts with the addition of overlaying chainmail

And so it is with your own armour!
Humidity, expansion and contraction in the heat, UV radiation, rain, and the withering blows of your enemies all conspire to expose your armour to rust, but worse yet, your very own precious bodily fluids conspire to corrode it from the inside with their impurities and corruption! (which is why we only ever drink pure grain alcohol or rainwater)

You could coat your armour (and other metal objects) in a regular run of the mill lubricant, but many of them are actively hydrophobic. Great for metal but terrible for leather, cotton and other organic materials!

Lanox MX4 is a lanolin rich lubricant, and lanolin is the oil that is naturally produced by sheep to prevent them from shrinking in the rain and generally remain weather proof! It is superior to many artificial compounds and does not damage leathers or organic fibres.

The "Kaspar" tassets are made from 7 flexible connected lamellae and fit to the "Kaspar" Torso armour, but can be worn on others too, the given rims assumed.

The browned areas, in combination with the blank bordering, up grade the browned variant. Being made along patterns from the mid 16th to mid 17th century, the german horse riders armour can be used for a wide range of various characters and costumes.

The "Kaspar" torso armour, consisting of front- and backplate, is the heart of this germans rider armour. To sit in the saddle or on anything else, there is a articulated plate made from 2 pieces in the back. The rims are to attach the fitting "Kaspar" tassets. The neck area of the armour is very wide, because unlike most armours, the "Kaspar" gorget is worn underneath the torso armour. We recommend to always wear a gambeson or at least a padded gorget underneath.

The "Kaspar" helmet is a typical burgonet from the riders armor around 16th to 17th century. The facial protection is closed with a leather strip in front of the face, they are designed with holes to allow better hearing.
