You realize it must be scaring your enemy, because no one wants to face you on the frontline anymore. They think you are crazed. Maybe you are, because the adrenaline of being in a battle has left you feeling drunk with exhilaration.
If no one will come to you, it’s time to bring the fight to them! One poor soldier desperately strikes at you and you feel the thud of his sword against your Warrior Helmet, but it hardly makes a scratch. You see the terror in his eyes as your laugh fills the field and you bring the strength of your axe down upon him.
You are Raynor Ironshood. Let them fear you. Let them all fear you.
DETAILS
The Epic Armoury Warrior Helm is a Spangenhelm made from thick full-grain leather that protects the head, back of the neck, and the front of the face. Four leather plates are sewn together to form this skull cap, reinforced by heavy leather straps forming a cross across the apex of the skull. To add additional structure, a heavy leather strap is secured around the brim and is attached to an elongated diamond-shaped nose guard that protects the center of the face.
The Warrior Helmet also features a stiff leather neck-guard to protect against waylay attacks, and soft split-leather padding on the inside. Embellished with a wing-like decoration above the eyes, this helmet is designed to match most of Epic Armoury’s other armours and clothing, and with its durable leather stitching it is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather care.
HISTORY
- Oldest known helmets were worn by Assyrian soldiers in 900 B.C.
- Leather was replaced by bronze, iron, and then steel as technology advanced
- Similar to a Spangenhelm or Nasal helm design used in the Middle Ages
You strike your sword against your rounded shield, shouting alongside your legionaries outside the gates of Syracuse. Inside, their people are filled with terror, deafened by your army’s trumpets and noise. Arrows rain down and you and your fellow soldiers form a barrier with your shields.
There is nothing that can stop you. The design of your shield allows you to stand in close formation, advancing on their defenders and dispatching them quickly. Even if an arrow should find its way through the cracks, your Troy Helmet will keep you protected.
DETAILS
Epic Armoury’s Troy Helmet is a steel helmet inspired by the armour worn by the ancient hoplites. Featuring a horsehair plumed crest and protective cheek- and nasal-guards, this round steel-capped helmet is both impressive and practical. The shape of the helmet provides exceptional protection while granting the wearer clear vision.
Secure the Troy Helmet by tightening the leather strap beneath the chin, keeping the helmet in place. Made of 1 mm thick galvanized mild steel and top-grain leather straps and fittings, this armour piece is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather and metal armour care.
HISTORY
- Worn by the Hoplites in the ancient Hellenic World around the Battle of Troy
- Some speculative ancient writers suggest this style of helmet was also worn by the warrior women of Africa
- Also referred to as a chalcidian helmet
Your Knight’s Code is one of valor, truth and courage. You are tasked with defending the innocent and the weak, and today your oath is being tested. Outside of town there has been a bandit attack on a merchant and his family, and it’s up to you to rescue them.
Your squire straps your Sallet onto your head over the weight of your chainmail coif, and with a prayer to your god you and your small unit strike out onto the road.
Criminals be warned.
DETAILS

A flexible lobster neck-plate protects the back of the head behind the ears.
Secure the Sallet helmet by tightening the leather strap beneath the chin, keeping the helmet in place. Made of 1 mm thick mild steel and top-grain leather straps and fittings, this armour piece is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather and metal armour care.

Oh no, you think, as a sword and a helmet are thrust into your farm-calloused hands. You’ve never been trained as a soldier, let alone asked to fight on a dangerous battlefield!
But here you are, suddenly standing in a row of your neighbors with your helmet secured over a padded Undercap. You await the advancing orc raid headed for your farms and your town, and you just hope that somehow you’ll make it through. At least your helmet feels solid on your head. That’s something to be thankful for, at least...right?
DETAILS
Epic Armoury’s Undercap is a padded hood that fits over the head and ears comfortably. Made from quilted cotton canvas lined with a soft polyester interior and a medium cotton outer layer, this padding can be worn on its own or as padding beneath a heavy steel or leather helmet.
The Undercap is stitched to ensure the padding will remain evenly spaced. Secure it to your head by tying the cotton cords under the chin. With its neutral style, the Undercap will work on a wide variety of characters. Match it with other Epic Armoury armours and clothes to fit your unique style!
HISTORY
- Used as padding under chainmail or plate armour
- Historically, a high-medieval European gambeson was recorded as being capable of stopping sword blows from penetrating the skin
- Could stop heavy arrows and mace and axe impacts with the addition of overlaying chainmail
