Farhad wiped the blood from his shamshir.
"Another lot of those damned Northern fools, Darab my friend" he sighed. "Perhaps they do not understand the ferocity of us Hashishin, and how we must protect it from them at all costs."
Darab stretched his Dervish Spear across his shoulders to work the stiffness from his shoulders, looking grim at the senselessness of the blood they had all just spilt upon the desert sands.
"They will never have it, Farhad. They will never enter the Juice Vault."
STYLE AND FUNCTION COMBINED
Epic Armoury's Gambeson Dastan is a padded long-sleeve coat covering the torso from neck, down over the hips and upper thighs both on the front and back. It can be worn on its own or serve as essential padding under mail or armour. The gambeson is donned like a jacket and closed on the front with straps, allowing the wearer to customize the tightness of the fit. The shoulders are easily detachable by untying its cotton cords on the shoulders and sleeves, each cord secured through long-lasting brass eyelets. The gambeson design is created with a two-colour design in mind, giving a splash of colour to it.
Thick enough to serve as its own armour, this sturdy gambeson is constructed with heavy layers of fluffed cotton canvas sandwiched between dyed wool on the outside and softer cotton lining on the inside. All these layers are stitched together in vertical lines, keeping the padding in place.
HISTORY
- Quilted armours have been around since at least 400 BCE
- Used as padding under chainmail or plate armour
- Could stop heavy arrows and mace and axe impacts with the addition of overlaying chainmail
Fear No One
Epic Armoury’s Polished Steel Persian Helmet is your solution for complete head protection. Inspired by ancient Asian armour, this helmet is made of 1 mm thick mild steel and features a tall bowled head with a pointed crest that has been capped with a decorative plate. A nasal guard extends up over the forehead and offers great protection to the face without limiting too much visibility, and it creates an impressive silhouette on the battlefield. It can be removed by loosening the front bolt.
A full chainmail aventail provides protection to both the neck and the face, and is hooked directly onto the helmet and around a strong band of metal that forms the two eye holes. These holes are wide for visibility! The chainmail is lined with leather around the eyes and in the front for comfort and to keep the links in place.
Secure the Persian Helmet by tightening the leather strap beneath the chin, keeping the helmet in place. An Off-White Persian Headband is included with your helmet, and can be strapped around the helmet’s crown and attached to the back using four holes in the metal.
Inspired by the Khula Khud
- An aventail is a veil of chainmail that attaches to the helmet and offers protection; it replaced the chainmail hood coif by the 14th century
- Khula Khuds were a type of helmet used by ancient western Asia, and included the use of an aventail
- Also very similar to a conical shaped Turban Helmet worn in the Ottoman Empire
