Epic Armoury’s Dark Drake Leg Protection is a set of metal ‘demi-greaves’ shaped to protect the shins. Rounded at the edges and decorated with scale-like ridges, these demi-greaves are designed to sit comfortably over the shins while leaving room for poleyns to cover the kneecaps. They reach from below the knee and narrow around the ankles, secured with a top-grain leather straps below the knee and another above the ankles. The armour is made from rolled mild steel treated with Epic Armoury’s Epic Dark Metal coat, which gives the armour a rugged, antique finish.

Epic Armoury’s Dark Drake Shoulderplates are a set of two shoulder guards with spaulders, pauldrons and besagues. The spaulders have four scale-like ridged metal plates--or lames--overlaying one another to provide laminate protection of the upper arms. Overlaying the spaulder is a large pauldron, which provides additional protection to the shoulder joint and armpits. Besauges (small round convex metal shields) tied onto the spaulders with leather cords add further protection to the armpits. The shoulderplates are fastened with leather straps around the biceps and at the shoulder blade, attaching to a breast- and backplate. Epic Armoury breast- and backplates can be purchased separately and have fittings for mounting the shoulders.

Epic Armoury’s Gambeson Legs are a set of quilted cotton greaves designed to add comfort and protection beneath your leg armour. Made from quilted cotton canvas lined with a soft polyester interior and a medium cotton outer layer, they can be worn on their own or as padding beneath heavy steel or leather armour.
The Gambeson Legs are stitched to ensure the padding will remain evenly spaced. Secure them to your legs by tightening the cotton string lacing through brass eyelets up the calf. Epic Armoury’s Dark Drake Upper Leg are tassets designed to protect the thigh and groin. The style is late medieval with rolled edged metal plates overlapping each other. Two sets of steel plates hang from the hips to cover the outer thighs. A third set of slimmer plates cover the groin area and provide some protection to the inner thighs. The set comes with a leather belt with suspenders to keep the piece in place. Each plate is treated with Epic Armoury’s Epic Dark Metal coat, which gives the armour a rugged, antique finish which matches its reptilian scale design.

Epic Armoury’s Neck Plate Dark Drake is a gorget designed to sit around the neck and give additional protection to the vitals of throat and thorax. An elongated front piece and shorter back piece are decorated with rivets, and can be attached to a breast and backplate using its sturdy top-grain leather straps. Although the armour is designed to match Epic Armoury’s ‘Dark Drake’ set, it is fully interchangeable with other Epic Armoury armours in order to fully customize your character’s look.

Humidity, expansion and contraction in the heat, UV radiation, rain, and the withering blows of your enemies all conspire to expose your armour to rust, but worse yet, your very own precious bodily fluids conspire to corrode it from the inside with their impurities and corruption! (which is why we only ever drink pure grain alcohol or rainwater)
You could coat your armour (and other metal objects) in a regular run of the mill lubricant, but many of them are actively hydrophobic. Great for metal but terrible for leather, cotton and other organic materials!
Lanox MX4 is a lanolin rich lubricant, and lanolin is the oil that is naturally produced by sheep to prevent them from shrinking in the rain and generally remain weather proof! It is superior to many artificial compounds and does not damage leathers or organic fibres.

Epic Armoury’s Viking Leg Protection is a set of greaves inspired by ancient splint armour. At first glance, the Viking Leg Protection may appear fragile, but don’t let that fool you! These greaves can be worn over leather or clothing, and the vertical steel strips offer excellent protection of your shins without encumbering you or hindering your mobility.

Epic Armoury’s Dreki Greaves are a set of greaves that covers the front of your lower legs and shin, while maintaining the same nordic inspired, imposing, design that is common for the Dreki set. These robust two-coloured steel plates efficiently protect the the front of your lower legs while being held secure by and upper and lower leather strap along with a small steel plate that covered the back of your shin along with a brass covered tip that can be used for an additional strap to make it as secure as possible. Intimidation. It’s your main form of weaponry while facing the heroes, because it gives you full control. When your enemies fear you, they are more likely to make fatal mistakes.
Your Dark Drake Armour is as dark as your intentions, hardened by the evil magic your subjects provide. As you withdraw your sword, sizing up the quivering soldier who feels brave enough to stand against you, you begin to laugh. This will be a very brief fight--if you can even call it that. The little man looks barely strong enough to hold up his hammer.
DETAILS
Epic Armoury’s Dark Drake Leg Protection is a set of metal ‘demi-greaves’ shaped to protect the shins. Rounded at the edges and decorated with scale-like ridges, these demi-greaves are designed to sit comfortably over the shins while leaving room for poleyns to cover the kneecaps. They reach from below the knee and narrow around the ankles, secured with a top-grain leather straps below the knee and another above the ankles. The armour is made from rolled mild steel treated with Epic Armoury’s Epic Dark Metal coat, which gives the armour a rugged, antique finish.
The Dark Drake Leg Protection is designed to match Epic Armoury’s Dark Drake Armour, but is fully usable with other Epic Armoury metal products, giving you the freedom to customize your character’s costume. Made of 1 mm thick galvanized mild steel and top-grain leather straps and fittings, this armour piece is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather and metal armour care.
