Aerondight Great Sword - Witcher Wild Hunt

Aerondight is a legendary silver sword associated with Geralt of Rivia and the Lady of the Lake. In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine, Geralt can earn the right to wield Aerondight by completing the trials of the quest There Can Be Only One, proving the five chivalric virtues before facing the Hermit in combat. After Geralt succeeds, the Lady of the Lake emerges from the waters of Lac Célavy and presents him with Aerondight, a blade that has awaited his arrival for ages. Unlike ordinary swords, Aerondight grows stronger through use. Each successful blow builds its charge, and when fully charged, the sword reaches its greatest potential. Striking down an enemy while fully charged permanently increases the sword's damage, allowing Aerondight to grow alongside its wielder.

Created in collaboration with CD PROJEKT RED, Calimacil presents Aerondight, the legendary silver sword from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine.

Faithfully inspired by the weapon seen in the game, this official foam replica captures Aerondight's distinctive appearance, including the engraved markings running along its blade. The runes are carefully painted to recreate their luminous appearance from the game, giving the sword a striking magical presence while remaining a safe and durable LARP weapon.

Constructed from Calimacil Foam around a fiberglass core, Aerondight is designed to combine the realistic appearance expected from an official replica with the safety and durability required for LARP combat, cosplay, and prop use.

Whether displayed as a prized piece of Witcher memorabilia or carried on the Path, Aerondight lets you wield one of the most iconic swords from Geralt's final adventure.

War is all that you know. For your clan, war is a permanent state of being. Just as you need meat to sustain you and leather armour to protect your leathery green skin, war keeps your thirst for chaos and violence sated.

Your clan now gathers to prepare for the war against the goblins. The creatures used to be your allies, but in the last battle they became cowardly and ran. Now there is nothing more to be done than to hunt down every one of them and serve them over your fire.

You begin by picking up Choppa, a sword wrought using the scavenged weapons of your enemies.

INSPIRATION

• Earliest references to orcs are found in Old English and Anglo-Saxon sources, such as in Beowulf and in 16th century Italian folktales
• The word itself stems from the Latin word Orcus, which was the name given to the Roman deity of the dead
• J.R.R. Tolkien’s 20th century The Lord of the Rings series describes orcs as brutish, aggressive beings with a taste for human flesh
• Tolkien’s writings influenced many role-playing games, and are now seen in such games as Dungeons and Dragons, Warhammer and Warcraft

HISTORY

• Inspired by a Prince of Hell by the name of Baal, said to be Satan’s main assistant
• Baal is also a term used for Lord, and is at times synonymous with God
• Two-handed swords were not common until after the 13th century, gaining popularity as an infantry weapon in the 15th and 16th centuries
• Also referred to as a Zweihänder (lit. Two-Hander)
• Soldiers who trained to use these swords were called Meister des langen Schwertes (lit. Master of the Long Sword)
• Required the use of two hands to wield, and was so long that it had to be carried without a sheath on the shoulder like a halberd

Your Nodachi was handed to you by your master, many years ago. It had been a bittersweet moment for you, because while it meant you had overcome all obstacles in your training, it also meant that it was time to set out on your own.

You find the hard leather along the handle comforting, your hand finding its usual well-worn grip. As a traveling samurai--a ronin--your sword is your only consistent companion.

You look beyond the campfire where a fresh fish now cooks, sizzling in the heat, looking to the flickering shadows along the treeline. You have the sense that tonight you and your sword may once again be tested as you hear the unmistakable snap of a twig, your grip on its handle tightening in anticipation.

DETAILS

Epic Armoury’s Nodachi is a two-handed Japanese sword meant for elite samurai. The Nodachi is 140 cm long, with a 100 cm long single edged cutting-blade. It has a large oval crossguard and a small rounded pommel. The handle’s oval shape helps to steer the blade intuitively, and is adorned with menuki-bindings made from top-grain leather. The menuki-bind is twin-layered and made from contrasting colours, creating a diamond pattern.

Nodachi were large, but unwieldy weapons. With their long cutting edge, they were somewhat at odds with the bushido styles, and thus quickly became symbols of skill and status. Since they required extensive training to be used correctly, they were mostly used for duelling or in the hands of cavalrymen. While on the field of battle, they were made to look dangerous in the hands of elite troops with a fearsome reputation.

HISTORY

• Nodachi means “???, field sword” in Japanese
• Also referred to as an “Odachi,” which means “big sword”
• Typically used for ceremonies and calvarymen due to its long blade size
