You are tasked with defending the innocent and the weak, and today your oath is being tested. Outside of town there has been a bandit attack on a merchant and his family, and it’s up to you to rescue them.
Your squire straps your Lion Shield tight onto your arm over the weight of your chainmail, and with a prayer to your god you and your small unit strike out onto the road. The sword upon your shield is a reminder that you are a weapon of justice.

DETAILS
Epic Armoury’s Knight Shield is a large shield inspired by heater shields used for jousting in the 15th century. A hand painted green, white and gold striped face mimics a traditional heraldry design. The rim is detailed to look like metal with brass studs. While the design is simple, this Knight Shield is timeless and classic.
Wear this Knight Shield left-handed with the use of three leather arm straps on the back, secured through hard EVA foam for a reliable and solid grip made to last. Feel confident that this latex shield will withstand the continued abuse of a LARP with regular latex maintenance.
HISTORY
- Curved upper left corner is called a bouche, which was historically done to serve as a rest for a jouster’s lance and to improve the knight’s view
The Blackguard Knights stood in fearsome formation at the top of the hill, waiting for the spawn of Chaos to make their way to their position. They knew nothing but courage as their defences were perfect.
Shadowed in Evil
Epic Armoury’s Black Knight Shield is a semi-curved shield inspired by the transitional heater shields of 12th century Western Europe. Its design can be used for knights or soldiers alike, just so long as they are fighting for darkness and the triumph of evil! It is handpainted with a glossy black finish and tarnished metal rim, after all. We think it’s perfect for the angsty heart of a fallen paladin.
While the design is simple, this Black Knight Shield is timeless and classic, and can fit almost any LARP character you might play. Wear this shield left- or right-handed with the use of six canvas arm straps--or enarmes--on the back, secured through canvas attached to hard EVA foam for a reliable and comfortable grip. Its slight convex shape will help in combat, and it’s 90 cm long for great protection without being too unwieldy. Keep your shield in great condition with regular latex maintenance.
The Black Knight Shield is Epic Armoury's offering for those that need a large shield, but also want to have a surface to customise to their team's or character's exacting requirements.
A More Versatile Shield
- Similar to a kite shield, but with a flattened top and a shorter length designed for use on horse or foot
- Could be considered a heater shield, designed in Western Europe to replace the kite shield with a version that was more versatile and could be used by anyone
- Traditionally made from thin, non-splintering wood overlaid with leather--but could also be braced or made of metal
The RFB kite shield is a great shield for people at all levels.
Its light weight and medium size with diagnol buckle up grip position make it ideal for all but the heaviest of fighters.
You assume the bandits are going to kill you when they realize no one is going to pay an Adventurer’s ransom, but for now they leave you tied up in the cellar of an old farmhouse. They took your weapon. Worst of all they took your pride...but they did not take your uncanny ability to wiggle out of ropes!
Free at last, you scan the old cellar for something useful. That’s when you spot a Kite Shield in the corner. The dust suggests that it’s been there for a while, but upon inspection you can see that the wood and metal rim are still good. The grip is solid in your hand and for the first time you have a small hope that with this added defense you might be able to muscle your way out of this situation after all!
