There are those that fear the draug and the mighty blades that they wield. Those people have yet to meet true fear, for at least you can hit one of the drauger and, if you are made of the stuff of heroes, come away to tell the tale.

But how many have died of fright in their very sleep, falling to the blades of the Mara? 

Epic Armoury’s Nightmare Blade is a hybrid LARP sword with unique and asymmetric detail, designed for the greatest of barbarians. Featuring a notched and worn blade with a long ridge and a decorated ricasso, the Nightmare Blade is a longsword handmade and hand painted to look like real steel with antique gold embellishments. The pommel is shaped like a scent stopper, decorated in gold diamond-shaped ridges.

The Nightmare’s blade is made out of soft EVA foam around a solid fibreglass rod core--chosen for its durability and safety. It is coated with latex for its smooth appearance and to minimize shredding. The 37 cm handle is made of polyurethane for its high detail, and the 17 cm grip is wrapped in leather.

SAVAGE SAFEGUARD

Taking inspiration from the semi-curved kite shaped shields used by the Normans of the early Middle Ages, the Maurauder Kite Shield works just as well for a goblin invader or a brutal orc from a high fantasy realm as it would for a battleworn European knight from the ninth century or a pillaging Viking.

The again-walker's eyes were lit with balefire. It had died a hero, but had still been denied entry to the Valhall. It had been tasked with standing vigil inside the burial chambers in case the people of Eyri ever came returned to take back what had once been theirs. The only comfort to be found in its sluggish thoughts, as black as the skin of the draug itself, was that at least its sword could change size with it and slay even a fierce jotunn.

This Way Evil Comes

Epic Armoury’s Draug Sword is a medium latex LARP sword inspired by high-fantasy villains and undead creatures. The sword is 115 cm long and has a straight double-edged blade with two fullers. The 19cm wide crossguard is hand painted and textured to look like worn and chipped steel, embellished with a skeleton face cast in polyurethane foam. The matching pommel has a common ‘scent-stopper’ shape often seen throughout the middle ages. Much like a real sword, the grip also features a grooved and ergonomic shape, and is wrapped in a layer of dark leather.

Epic Armoury’s Caprine Sword is a hybrid LARP sword inspired by fantasy and designed to fit in the hands of the mountainous rangers we so love. This work of art is an original design from our team of designers at Calimacil. The inspiration came from the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. I watch the fog of my breath fade out in the crisp winter air. The deed was done, and I could rest. The glory of a battle well-fought and won, the primal rush of energy only battle could give a warrior such as I. They had been four against my one, but it would take their entire clan to stop but one of Clan Sigur’s mighty berserker! Epic Armoury's Assassin Sword is a cruel medium sword that looks capable of inflicting a lot of pain. The sword is 85 cm long and designed with a 67 cm curved blade with numerous serrations and chips to give it an aggressive and used look. The cross guard is slightly angled, extending into talons the protect the long handle wrapped in black split-leather. The handle is oval-shaped, allowing you to shift your hands for a perfect grip.

Epic Armoury’s Baal is a beautiful two-handed sword with variable grip and an extra long blade. From tip to pommel, the Baal spans a massive 140 cm, including a 100 cm long center ridged blade with a leather wrapped ricasso for half-swording techniques integral to longsword fighting in close quarters. The blade can be used with both hands on the handle, or with one hand shifted up onto the ricasso for improved control and greater maneuvering speed.

HISTORY

• Inspired by a Prince of Hell by the name of Baal, said to be Satan’s main assistant
• Baal is also a term used for Lord, and is at times synonymous with God
• Two-handed swords were not common until after the 13th century, gaining popularity as an infantry weapon in the 15th and 16th centuries
• Also referred to as a Zweihänder (lit. Two-Hander)
• Soldiers who trained to use these swords were called Meister des langen Schwertes (lit. Master of the Long Sword)
• Required the use of two hands to wield, and was so long that it had to be carried without a sheath on the shoulder like a halberd
