Practical Protection for the Body

Epic Armoury’s Soldier Torso is a handmade cuirass and backplate, designed to protect the front and back of the torso and abdomen. This low-fantasy design is meant to fit an assortment of characters, and is inspired by historical medieval armour. It’s simple form comes in a range of sizes, and can easily be used by most people thanks to its curve and ability to overlap beneath the arms. The plate rests at the hips and has small rolled flanges around its edges.

Secure the Soldiers Torso by attaching the breastplate and backplate together over the chest. Six leather straps are riveted to the backplate, and are adjusted using the buckles attached to the breastplate. Tighten and adjust to your size, ideally over a padded gambeson for the most comfort. Made of polished 1 mm thick steel and chrome leather straps, this armour is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather and metal armour care.

You strap your armour over your Imperial Gambeson, preparing for battle. You will never tell them which stories might be true, but they can see for themselves your battle prowess once you step onto the field and dominate once more.

DETAILS

This Epic Armoury Imperial Gambeson is a padded long-sleeve coat covering the torso from neck, down over the hips on front and back. It can be worn on its own or serve as essential padding under mail or armour. The gambeson is donned like a jacket and closed on the front with a system of cotton cords, allowing the wearer to customize the tightness of the fit. The arms are easily detachable by untying its cotton cords on the shoulders and sleeves, each cord secured through long-lasting brass eyelets.

Thick enough to serve as its own armour, this sturdy gambeson is constructed with heavy layers of fluffed cotton canvas sandwiched between dyed wool on the outside and softer cotton lining on the inside. All these layers are stitched together in vertical lines, keeping the padding in place and mimicking a classic European high-medieval style.

Though of European cut, gambeson or quilted-style armours have seen world-wide use since antediluvian times, making the Imperial Gambeson a great basic armour with a range of possibilities regardless of time and place.

DETAILS

Epic Armoury’s Kingsguard Halberd is a 190 cm latex poleaxe inspired by a weapon commonly used during the late medieval period. The Kingsguard Halberd’s axe-like head has a 47 cm blade for chopping, a long spear for piercing, and a claw-like spike for grappling. The axe-head is hand painted and sculpted to appear realistic, detailed with golden carved vines to give it a rich, royal appearance.

Made from durable closed cell foam around a fibreglass core and finished with a strong latex coating, you can feel confident that your Kingsguard Halberd LARP weapon will provide the safety and appeal you want when crafting your kit.

There is a price to pay for armour. Armour protects your precious body - your one and only - but it has great weight and great material cost. No normal person can afford the blacksmith when desiring a suit of full plate. Thankfully, while your pocket is not deep, your skills are many.

You wear your minimal Soldier Belt Shields when you fight, because it doesn’t weigh you down. You are faster than your opponents...but also not so dumb as to go into a fight completely unprotected.

Epic Armoury’s Soldier Belt Shields are two plates designed to protect the thighs. These rolled edge steel plates hang from your own belt to cover the outer thighs, sliding into place using brown leather loops securely fastened with rivets. Each plate is 25cm long and 21cm wide, with two 24cm folded leather loops.

The Soldier Belt Shields armour features a curved edge and overlapping welded plates, influenced by the look of classic tassets that can be paired with a multitude of styles. This armour does not require assistance to equip, because it is very easy to put on and take off. Epic Armoury’s Soldier Shoulder is a set of two shoulder guards with spaulders and pauldrons. The spaulder is made from a single plate, shaped to provide protection to the upper arm. The large pauldrons are also made from one plate, curved to sit over the shoulders and overlap the breastplate. This design offers more protection to the otherwise vulnerable armpit. The shoulderplates are fastened with leather straps around the biceps and at the shoulder, tying to a breast- and backplate with an adjustable leather shoulder piece. Epic Armoury breast- and backplates can be purchased separately and have fittings for mounting the shoulders.

Simple Design, Great Protection

Epic Armoury’s Soldier Gorget is designed to sit around the neck, providing protection to the thorax and shoulders. Handmade and molded to sit comfortably on the shoulders, this gorget offers some of the best protection for the battlefield without being overly ornate. This design makes for a practical look, easily transferred between multiple costumes or to fit a simple medieval soldier.

The Soldier’s Gorget is made from two pieces, one side secured with a bolt and the other closed with an adjustable leather strap. Attach it to your gambeson by threading canvas ties through the leather shoulder plates. With regular leather and metal care you can expect this quality made armour to last for a long time!

Inspired by Renaissance History

HISTORY

• Commonly referred to as a “broadsword,” which is actually a historically incorrect term
• Inspired by the two-handed longsword of the late medieval and Renaissance era, but with a slightly shorter blade

On the tenth night of the siege, the attackers revealed their true colours. Until now, they had attacked only in small skirmishes, climbing walls at various points to test the defenders' numbers and to spot any weakness. But on that fateful night, they unleashed a full-scale assault, showing to the castle inhabitants that they had colluded with a goblin horde to flesh out their army before the attack. Using goblin mercenaries was a clear sign of infamy, for the nasty little creatures were known cannibals, and thus would often deny an honourable surrender to the defenders. By hiring them, the attackers were aiming for a quick victory, the monster providing a clear numerical advantage, and the useful capacity to climb stone walls without any siege equipment. However, their plan backfired horribly.

At the first sight of the goblins, panic quickly spread among the denizens of Castle Valdemar. Everyone knew such a horde meant assured death for them all... if they managed to take the castle. As the walls were getting overwhelmed and breached at many points by the green tide, a mismatched troop of stalwart defenders emerged from the lord's armoury, clad in ill-sized armors and wielding mass-produced swords meant for levied troops. They were blacksmiths, stonemasons, apprentices, stable boys, maids, even scribes. Many had seen too many seasons, or too few, but spurred on by desperation, the brave mob swarmed across the wavering defences, helping the struggling guards and knights fend off the attack. By the next morning, the humiliated goblin horde, untrustworthy at their best, had abandoned the enemy camp, leaving with all their employer's supplies in the process. The siege was over. won by the valiant effort of those who picked up a sword and fought for survival.

The soldier sword is a versatile weapon that can suit a large array of fantasy characters in LARP. Its classic medieval design makes it a great choice for a first purchase, as it can be used for many themes, but its dark color can also make it a good pick for more sinister concepts. Epic Armoury's Polished Steel Mittens are a much-needed addition to any Larp soldiers kit. This pair of hand armor consists of a series of overlapping plates riveted together, protecting the knight's hands, fingers and wrists from enemy attack. Although this pair of medieval gauntlets does restrict some movement, it is still quite efficient for true soldiers who desire the ultimate protection when facing dire situations. Each gauntlet is designed to be worn over the soldier's hand or glove and comes with a series of leather straps through which the warrior can secure it, making it simple to put on. The best defence in life means nothing if it is eaten away by time and the elements, or even attacked from the inside.
And so it is with your own armour!
Humidity, expansion and contraction in the heat, UV radiation, rain, and the withering blows of your enemies all conspire to expose your armour to rust, but worse yet, your very own precious bodily fluids conspire to corrode it from the inside with their impurities and corruption! (which is why we only ever drink pure grain alcohol or rainwater)

You could coat your armour (and other metal objects) in a regular run of the mill lubricant, but many of them are actively hydrophobic. Great for metal but terrible for leather, cotton and other organic materials!

Lanox MX4 is a lanolin rich lubricant, and lanolin is the oil that is naturally produced by sheep to prevent them from shrinking in the rain and generally remain weather proof! It is superior to many artificial compounds and does not damage leathers or organic fibres.

The breastplate from the "Elias" series is kept simple and functional. The chest and back plate are connected by flexible leather pieces on the shoulders. This not only increases the mobility, it also allows a quick fitting and displacement of the armor. Of course, this armor also has suspensions for spaulders. It is closed with straps on the sides by which the size can also be adjusted. Thanks to its plain and simple straightness, the short breastplate "Elias" is very suitable for  guards, soldiers or mercenaries. It is also a good base to build a heavy armor on it.

Epic Armoury’s Dreki is a Imposing and rugged piece of armour protecting the front and back of the torso and abdomen. Consisting of overlapping steel plates that forms a breastplate and an attached steel backplate, this armour is sculpted to fit the body after securing the leather straps at the shoulders and around the sides of your frame comfortably. With overlapping plates, rivets and its lean form, you can feel like a fantasy norsemen, braving the harsh wilderness and slaying ancient dragons among snow covered peaks.

The Dreki Cuirass is has two colours, the primary being a Matte Polish and the secondary being Epic Dark, to highlight different aspects of the Dreki armour and again show its Nordic inspired roots. Made of 1 mm thick polished mild steel and top-grain leather straps and fittings, this armour piece is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather and metal armour care.

The torso armour of Mytholon's Lambert series features a plain and functional design. It consists of a breast plate and a back plate that are connected by adjustable shoulder straps. The straps on both sides may also be used to adjust the size. The backplate comprises two parts and has a movable lower segment. This serves to considerably increase wearing comfort and mobility.
Please note that the indentations are where the wearer's shoulder blades should be, and are not intended for protection of a female chest. Wearing it backwards in this way will be, at best, incredibly uncomfortable.

Unlike the other parts of the Lambert series, the torso armour is not ornamented in any way, meaning it can also be universally combined with other armour series and outfits.

We recommend wearing a gambeson jacket or padded collar underneath the torso armour to increase wearing comfort and avoid bruises and abrasions.

The Captain Cuirass provides stout and stylish protection and is available in Polished Steel and Epic Dark which offers a chance for a glorious or grim appearance. The cuirass carries a vibe of human imperialism with a more aristocratic design than, for example, the Merc Armour and Warrior Armour. The Captain Cuirass is part of the Captain Armour Complete Set and is designed to pair with the Captain Gorget, Captain Pauldrons, Captain Arm Protection, Captain Belt Shields and Captain Greaves.

Epic Armoury’s Renegade Cuirass is a torso armour designed to shield the upper chest and waist, along with the lower back. Handcrafted from 1mm thick mild steel, this torso armour features a malleable front plate that provides great protection and movement. The shape of the front plate is specifically designed to be more comfortable for a male player. These plates are attached with vegetable-tanned leather to two lower back plates, that can be strapped together to have the torso armour be a combined front and back plate.

The Renegade Cuirass is designed to match Epic Armoury’s ‘Renegade’ set, a mercenary-inspired armour set that has been designed for specifically male body sizes and types. The Renegade armour is perfect for the well-armed and armoured adventurers or the Rebellious individuals fighting against an unjust empire.
