The Churburg Armour is embellished with a wide ‘V’ on the front to deflect attacks away from the head. HISTORY

• Loosely based on the Churburg #13 breastplate, a historically famous armour set from the 14th century

DETAILS

This bestselling Epic Armoury Imperial Gambeson is a padded long-sleeve coat covering the torso from neck, down over the hips on front and back. It can be worn on its own or serve as essential padding under mail or armour. The gambeson is donned like a jacket and closed on the front with a system of cotton cords, allowing the wearer to customize the tightness of the fit. The arms are easily detachable by untying its cotton cords on the shoulders and sleeves, each cord secured through long-lasting brass eyelets.

Thick enough to serve as its own armour, this sturdy gambeson is constructed with heavy layers of fluffed cotton canvas sandwiched between dyed wool on the outside and softer cotton lining on the inside. All these layers are stitched together in vertical lines, keeping the padding in place and mimicking a classic European high-medieval style.

Though of European cut, gambeson or quilted-style armours have seen world-wide use since antediluvian times, making the Imperial Gambeson a great basic armour with a range of possibilities regardless of time and place.

Humidity, expansion and contraction in the heat, UV radiation, rain, and the withering blows of your enemies all conspire to expose your armour to rust, but worse yet, your very own precious bodily fluids conspire to corrode it from the inside with their impurities and corruption! (which is why we only ever drink pure grain alcohol or rainwater)

You could coat your armour (and other metal objects) in a regular run of the mill lubricant, but many of them are actively hydrophobic. Great for metal but terrible for leather, cotton and other organic materials!

Lanox MX4 is a lanolin rich lubricant, and lanolin is the oil that is naturally produced by sheep to prevent them from shrinking in the rain and generally remain weather proof! It is superior to many artificial compounds and does not damage leathers or organic fibres.

Practical Protection for the Body

Epic Armoury’s Soldier Torso is a handmade cuirass and backplate, designed to protect the front and back of the torso and abdomen. This low-fantasy design is meant to fit an assortment of characters, and is inspired by historical medieval armour. It’s simple form comes in a range of sizes, and can easily be used by most people thanks to its curve and ability to overlap beneath the arms. The plate rests at the hips and has small rolled flanges around its edges.

Secure the Soldiers Torso by attaching the breastplate and backplate together over the chest. Six leather straps are riveted to the backplate, and are adjusted using the buckles attached to the breastplate. Tighten and adjust to your size, ideally over a padded gambeson for the most comfort. Epic Armoury’s Female Leather Armour is a leather cuirass designed to protect the female torso while also providing great flexibility. The upper chestplate, shaped to the female body, is made from sturdy full-grain leather and covers the shoulder, chest, and under the arms. Soft split-leather covers the abdomen and back to allow great mobility, embellished with a squared stitching pattern and a scalloped edge along the top. A stiff full-grain leather flange is stitched to the lower edge to help turn blows away from the hips.

Wear the Female Leather Armour by adjusting the leather cords along the flanks and front opening, and the leather straps along the shoulders. This armour is fully compatible with other Epic Armoury leather and metal armour pieces. The leather Kendra cuirass is made by Italian designers Fucina del Drago.

This cuirass provides full torso coverage and is the basis of the Kendra set, an extraordinary women's armor.
It is ideally combined with the matching shoulders and mantle, and pairs fantastically with the Tenebra battle skirt.

The two-part corsage is very elaborate and consists of a front and back. With two buckles each, the chest and back part are connected to each other and attached with shoulder straps.
The D-rings on the front side are designed for the separately available tassets, but can also accommodate other accessories.
The shaped breast fits up to cup size "D" and is suitable for a wearer up to a size 14.

Black Dragon is our brand for the design and construction of weapons, armor and props oriented to LARP, Cosplay and film productions.

These are articles made of materials such as plastazote, evazote, resins and the like, used to give shape and substance to the wildest dreams of every designer or to reproduce objects not otherwise available because of fantasy.

It was born from the meeting between the Fucina del Drago and Black Forge, an artisan workshop that has been active for years in the LARP and Cosplay sector at national and international level which, in February 2020, joined forces in the common goal of expanding their work and their skills to offer them on a wider market also linked to film productions.

From this collaboration, projects related to TV series have been born that have benefited from years of experience and tests on materials, at the same time highlighting on the one hand the absolute reachable realism and on the other the possibility of truly shaping the imagination to give shape to things otherwise unattainable.

From the feedback obtained, the push that led us to strongly believe in this new project was born to the point of creating a brand dedicated only to this type of product.

The Captain Cuirass provides stout and stylish protection and is available in Polished Steel and Epic Dark which offers a chance for a glorious or grim appearance. The cuirass carries a vibe of human imperialism with a more aristocratic design than, for example, the Merc Armour and Warrior Armour. Handcrafted from 1mm thick mild steel, this torso armour features a malleable front plate that provides great protection and movement. These plates are attached with vegetable-tanned leather to two lower back plates, that can be strapped together to have the torso armour be a combined front and back plate.

The Renegade Cuirass is designed to match Epic Armoury’s ‘Renegade’ set, a mercenary-inspired armour set that has been designed for specifically male body sizes and types. The Renegade armour is perfect for the well-armed and armoured adventurers or the Rebellious individuals fighting against an unjust empire.
