Epic Armoury’s Scouts Torso Armour is a simple low-fantasy breastplate and backplate protecting the upper torso. The plates comes down to the waist, allowing for increased flexibility compared to a traditional breastplate. Both the front and back plates are made from 1 mm thick mild steel, and are secured with top-grain leather straps at the shoulders and around the ribs.

Sculpted to fit the body and add structural strength to the steel, this steel riveted piece has been polished to a high-gloss finish to appeal to the knights in shining armour. The Scouts Torso Armour is neutral in style. Wear it alone or with shoulderguards and a helmet of your choice--we definitely recommend a gambeson! We also offer this style in several sizes to help accommodate different body types, and it’s built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather and metal armour care.

You strap your armour over your Imperial Gambeson, preparing for battle. You will never tell them which stories might be true, but they can see for themselves your battle prowess once you step onto the field and dominate once more.

DETAILS

This Epic Armoury Imperial Gambeson is a padded long-sleeve coat covering the torso from neck, down over the hips on front and back. It can be worn on its own or serve as essential padding under mail or armour. The gambeson is donned like a jacket and closed on the front with a system of cotton cords, allowing the wearer to customize the tightness of the fit. The arms are easily detachable by untying its cotton cords on the shoulders and sleeves, each cord secured through long-lasting brass eyelets.

Thick enough to serve as its own armour, this sturdy gambeson is constructed with heavy layers of fluffed cotton canvas sandwiched between dyed wool on the outside and softer cotton lining on the inside. All these layers are stitched together in vertical lines, keeping the padding in place and mimicking a classic European high-medieval style.

Though of European cut, gambeson or quilted-style armours have seen world-wide use since antediluvian times, making the Imperial Gambeson a great basic armour with a range of possibilities regardless of time and place.

Stronghold’s Scout Sword is a medium sword inspired by nordic weaponry. The sword is 75 cm long and has a 58 cm double-edged blade with a central ridge. The handle has a lot of detail, including a curved crossguard and ‘cocked-hat’ pommel--both similar to those seen on uncovered Viking swords. The crossguard and pommel are handpainted to looks like faded iron and bronze. The 10 cm grip is cast and painted to look like woven leather, ergonomically shaped to fit the hand comfortably.

Epic Armoury’s Scouts Gauntlets are a set of mild steel gloves designed to protect the wrist, back of the hand and forearm in combat without sacrificing all manoeuvrability. Each gauntlet consists of three overlapping plates, secured together using a sturdy, but flexible strap of leather. The 10 cm wide hand plate and short vambrace are made from 1mm steel, forged to fit comfortably over the first knuckles and around the curve of the arm. The vambrace is 11 cm wide at the wrist, and increases to 20 cm around the forearm. The best defence in life means nothing if it is eaten away by time and the elements, or even attacked from the inside.
And so it is with your own armour!
Humidity, expansion and contraction in the heat, UV radiation, rain, and the withering blows of your enemies all conspire to expose your armour to rust, but worse yet, your very own precious bodily fluids conspire to corrode it from the inside with their impurities and corruption! (which is why we only ever drink pure grain alcohol or rainwater)

You could coat your armour (and other metal objects) in a regular run of the mill lubricant, but many of them are actively hydrophobic. Great for metal but terrible for leather, cotton and other organic materials!

Lanox MX4 is a lanolin rich lubricant, and lanolin is the oil that is naturally produced by sheep to prevent them from shrinking in the rain and generally remain weather proof! It is superior to many artificial compounds and does not damage leathers or organic fibres.

Epic Armoury’s Merc Light Armour is a cuirass made from leather and steel covering the front of the wearer's torso. The front of this breastplate circles the wearer’s neck, sloping around the rib cage to protect under the arms. The breastplate from the "Elias" series is kept simple and functional. The chest and back plate are connected by flexible leather pieces on the shoulders. This not only increases the mobility, it also allows a quick fitting and displacement of the armor. Of course, this armor also has suspensions for spaulders. It is closed with straps on the sides by which the size can also be adjusted. Thanks to its plain and simple straightness, the short breastplate "Elias" is very suitable for  guards, soldiers or mercenaries. It is also a good base to build a heavy armor on it.
