This bestselling Epic Armoury Imperial Gambeson is a padded long-sleeve coat covering the torso from neck, down over the hips on front and back. It can be worn on its own or serve as essential padding under mail or armour. The gambeson is donned like a jacket and closed on the front with a system of cotton cords, allowing the wearer to customize the tightness of the fit. The arms are easily detachable by untying its cotton cords on the shoulders and sleeves, each cord secured through long-lasting brass eyelets.

Thick enough to serve as its own armour, this sturdy gambeson is constructed with heavy layers of fluffed cotton canvas sandwiched between dyed wool on the outside and softer cotton lining on the inside. All these layers are stitched together in vertical lines, keeping the padding in place and mimicking a classic European high-medieval style.

Epic Armoury’s Scouts Torso Armour is a simple low-fantasy breastplate and backplate protecting the upper torso. The plates comes down to the waist, allowing for increased flexibility compared to a traditional breastplate. Both the front and back plates are made from 1 mm thick mild steel, and are secured with top-grain leather straps at the shoulders and around the ribs.

Humidity, expansion and contraction in the heat, UV radiation, rain, and the withering blows of your enemies all conspire to expose your armour to rust, but worse yet, your very own precious bodily fluids conspire to corrode it from the inside with their impurities and corruption! (which is why we only ever drink pure grain alcohol or rainwater)

You could coat your armour (and other metal objects) in a regular run of the mill lubricant, but many of them are actively hydrophobic. Great for metal but terrible for leather, cotton and other organic materials!

Lanox MX4 is a lanolin rich lubricant, and lanolin is the oil that is naturally produced by sheep to prevent them from shrinking in the rain and generally remain weather proof! It is superior to many artificial compounds and does not damage leathers or organic fibres.

This classic 4-in-1 pattern short-sleeved chain mail was built for average sized adults. It is wide enough to be worn on top of a padded gambeson.

The sleeves cover some 2/3 of the arms - still being considered a short sleeve chain mail - and reaches down to the middle of your thigh.

We suggest to wear this chain mail with an average chest circumference from 90cm to 120cm, once gambeson is factored in. This way it can be worn in combination with a padded gambeson and can extend itself to a maximum width of 140cm circumference. A belt can help to distribute the weight properly.

The shiny version is fully galvanized and does not rust. Oiled and browned chainmails are ungalvanized and are supplied with a high lubrication. Please remove the excess oil before first use.

Ungalvanized chain shirts should be treated regularly with oil like Lannox MX4.
