Guardsman Helmet - Epic Dark

The air cuts through your armour, chilling you down to your bones. Tonight there is rumor that the Wild Hunt rides, and while you know the superstitions and seem an unlikely challenger to the fae--you stand true to your post.

As a guard, you are dressed in uniform. From your Guardsman Helmet to your clearly marked tabard, it is your duty to stay and fight whatever may come...no matter the number or skill of your enemy.

DETAILS

Epic Armoury’s Guardsman Helmet is a steel helmet inspired by German sallet helmets of the 15th century. The Guardsman Helmet’s brim is broad and steeply sloped in order to protect the head and face from weapons. Two eye holes in the brim allow for protected vision. Wear this helmet with a bevor for additional neck and face protection.

Secure the Guardsman Helmet by tightening the leather strap beneath the chin, keeping the helmet in place. Made of 1 mm thick galvanized mild steel and top-grain leather straps and fittings, this armour piece is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather and metal armour care.

HISTORY

• Similar in shape to a German sallet or an infantry Kettle Hat
• Provided the added benefit of protecting the eyes from sunlight
• Design was eventually replaced with the close helm and burgonet

You ready your throwing knives, ready to launch your deadly attack when the lord finally emerges from inside the keep. One quick flick of your wrist and the lord breathes his last, you knife hitting its mark...and you vanish, leaving their guards bewildered and afraid.

Epic Armoury’s Mempo is a leather half-mask inspired by early Asian soldiers. This mask protects the face from the bridge of the nose to the chin. Four ventilation slits allow proper airflow through the mask’s mouth, designed to be comfortably worn for long periods of time. Secure the mask to your face by tying two long cotton-weave cords around the head.

Made from 3mm thick vegetable-tanned full-grain leather, Epic Armoury’s Mempo is designed to add a great layer to your fantasy or historic costume. With the best quality materials, this mask is built to withstand extensive abuse with regular leather care.

HISTORY

• Worn by Japanese and Chinese infantry and cavalry from as early as 200 BC
• Used to balance and secure top-heavy helmets, often decorated to give the wearer an extra fierce look

“We must fight!” your officer shouts for all to hear. You adjust your Shoulder Plate Giant Warrior armour, double checking the buckles as you listen to him continue. “For our homes and for our families, we will fight until we can fight no more!” With a resounding cheer, your fellow soldiers ready themselves for the charge. You withdraw your weapon, eager and afraid all at once.

The battle has begun.

Epic Armoury’s Shoulder Plate Giant Warrior are a set of two shoulder guards designed to protect the shoulder-joints and upper arm. This armour’s metal plates overlap one another to provide complete laminate protection. Overlaying the spaulders is a large pauldron, which provides additional protection to joints and armpits. Atop the pauldron a vertical plate sword breaker catches and deflects blows before they can impact the head. The sword breaker is slightly concave and somewhat higher at the back than the front, thus providing protection without impairing vision. Although the armour is designed to match Epic Armoury’s ‘Warrior’ set, it is fully interchangeable with other Epic Armoury armours in order to fully customize your character’s look.

Secure the Shoulder Plate Giant Warrior by tightening the top leather strap onto a breast- or neck-plate, adjusting so that the armour sits comfortably over the shoulder. Keep the armour from further moving by securing an additional top leather strap around the upper arm. Made of 1 mm thick mild steel and top-grain leather straps and fittings, this armour piece is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather and metal armour care.

Sculpted to fit the body and add structural strength to the steel, this galvanized steel piece has been decorated to mimic reptilian scales. The plate rests at the hips and has a V-shaped flange--or sword turner--that deflects blows from the weak spot where torso and leg armour fit together. The armour is made from rolled mild steel treated with Epic Armoury’s Epic Dark Metal coat, which gives the armour a rugged, antique finish.

The Dark Drake Breastplate is designed to match Epic Armoury’s Dark Drake Armour, but is fully usable with other Epic Armoury metal products, giving you the freedom to customize your character’s costume.
