The Epic Armoury Captain Chainmail is effortless to put on and is comfortable to wear in Larp battle. This flexible mail tunic has hand-stiched leather edging with a series of buckles in the front for a quick fit. The mail covers the body from the shoulder to the thighs and has long sleeves. Each butted ring interlocks with four other rings in a 4-in-1 design. The armpits are reinforced with riveted rings designed to cope with the weight when lifting your arms during combat. This chainmail can easily be worn over a gambeson for more comfort and to prevent bruising in battle.

DETAILS

Epic Armoury’s Epic Black Pourpoint is a form-fitting long-sleeve coat covering the torso from the neck to the hips. It can be worn on its own or serve as padding under mail or armour. The pourpoint is donned like a jacket and secured along the front, sides and back with cotton cords, allowing you to customize the tightness of the fit. The arms are easily detachable by untying its cotton cords on the shoulders, each cord secured through long-lasting brass eyelets. Worn like a proper knight, you may attach hose and a leg harness to the four eyelets on the bottom front hem.

Thick enough to serve as its own armour, this durable doublet is constructed with layers of heavy black cotton. The Pourpoint is stitched together in vertical and diagonal lines, keeping the padding in place and giving the body a strong form-fitted appearance.

Epic Armoury’s Pants Medieval is a classic pair of pants with signature baggy legs featuring a few convenient modern alterations, such as the sizeable pockets. Made from durable light canvas, these pants are extra wide above the knees before mimicking leggings, easily fitting inside your boots and leg armour. Adjust the fabric around the calves by tightening the reinforced cotton cord to get the best fit.

The pants are fitted with a cotton drawstring at the waist to keep the pants in place while leaving sufficient room for a proper belt. The Pants Medieval are fully compatible with other Epic Armoury clothes and armours, allowing you the freedom to personalize your character's gear.

Epic Armoury’s Captain Belt Shield are two plates designed to protect the thighs. These rolled edge steel plates hang from your own belt to cover the outer thighs, sliding into place using black leather loops securely fastened with rivets. Each plate is 25cm long and 19cm wide, with two 24cm folded leather loops.

The Captain’s Belt Shield armour features notches and overlapping welded plates, giving your armour a little extra detail that can be paired with a multitude of styles. This armour does not require assistance to equip, because it is very easy to put on and take off. Made of 1 mm thick galvanized mild steel and top-grain leather straps and fittings, this armour piece is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather and metal armour care.

The Captain Cuirass provides stout and stylish protection and is available in Polished Steel and Epic Dark which offers a chance for a glorious or grim appearance. The cuirass carries a vibe of human imperialism with a more aristocratic design than, for example, the Merc Armour and Warrior Armour. And so it is with your own armour!
Humidity, expansion and contraction in the heat, UV radiation, rain, and the withering blows of your enemies all conspire to expose your armour to rust, but worse yet, your very own precious bodily fluids conspire to corrode it from the inside with their impurities and corruption! (which is why we only ever drink pure grain alcohol or rainwater)

You could coat your armour (and other metal objects) in a regular run of the mill lubricant, but many of them are actively hydrophobic. Great for metal but terrible for leather, cotton and other organic materials!

Lanox MX4 is a lanolin rich lubricant, and lanolin is the oil that is naturally produced by sheep to prevent them from shrinking in the rain and generally remain weather proof! It is superior to many artificial compounds and does not damage leathers or organic fibres.

This classic 4-in-1 pattern short-sleeved chain mail was built for average sized adults. It is wide enough to be worn on top of a padded gambeson.

The sleeves cover some 2/3 of the arms - still being considered a short sleeve chain mail - and reaches down to the middle of your thigh.

We suggest to wear this chain mail with an average chest circumference from 90cm to 120cm, once gambeson is factored in. This way it can be worn in combination with a padded gambeson and can extend itself to a maximum width of 140cm circumference. A belt can help to distribute the weight properly.

The shiny version is fully galvanized and does not rust. Oiled and browned chainmails are ungalvanized and are supplied with a high lubrication. Please remove the excess oil before first use.

Ungalvanized chain shirts should be treated regularly with oil like Lannox MX4.
