Your Knight’s Code is one of valor, truth, and courage. You are tasked with defending the innocent and the weak, and today your oath is being tested. Outside of town there has been a bandit attack on a merchant and his family, and it’s up to you to rescue them.
Your squire straps your RFB Mantle around your neck before adding the gorget and helmet. With the helmet placed firmly over your head, you say a prayer to your god and your small unit strikes out onto the road.
You can’t choose which of your weapons you would like to be holding in your latest portrait. The artist you’ve hired is one of the best, and so you want to look your utmost--and that means picking the perfect weapon to match your gleaming suit of plate.
Your eyes fix upon your Gothic Axe. At once you know it to be exactly what you were looking for! Rich in appearance, but sharp and effective. It will go nicely.
Epic Armoury’s Gothic Axe is a deadly 90 cm axe designed for noble hands. It has an axe-blade with a 28 cm blade, and also features both a curved claw and spike for versatile fighting. The head is hand painted to look like real metal embellished with riveted brass bands, although it is made of soft foam. The bladed head attaches to the shaft which is hand painted and sculpted to look like matching metal.
Made from durable closed cell foam around a solid 10 mm fibreglass core and finished with a strong latex coating, your new LARP axe will provide the safety and appeal you want when crafting your Sovereign kit.
The first hafted axe was created about 6,000 B.C. using birch-tar and raw-hide lashings to fix the blade to its handle
Many battle axes doubled as tools and were cheaper to make than swords
You look upon your leading officer as he makes his way down the line of your fellow soldiers. Your fate and the fate of your entire unit is dependent on this veteran’s word, and you find yourself relieved not to shoulder such a heavy burden.
“We must fight!” your officer shouts for all to hear. You adjust your Neck Plate Dark Warrior armour, double checking the buckles as you listen to him continue. “For our homes and for our families, we will fight until we can fight no more!” With a resounding cheer, your fellow soldiers ready themselves for the charge. You withdraw your weapon, eager and afraid all at once.
The battle has begun.
Epic Armoury’s Neck Plate Dark Warrior is a gorget designed to sit around the neck and give additional protection to the throat. An elongated front piece and shorter back piece are decorated with rivets, and can be attached to a breast and backplate using its sturdy top-grain leather straps. Although the armour is designed to match Epic Armoury’s ‘Dark Warrior’ set, it is fully interchangeable with other Epic Armoury armours in order to fully customize your character’s look.
Secure the Neck Plate Dark Warrior by tightening the leather straps across the shoulders, adjusting so that the armour sits comfortably around the neck. Made of 1 mm thick galvanized mild steel and top-grain leather straps and fittings, this armour piece is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather and metal armour care.
Also referred to as a gorget, which means throat
Early versions were typically worn under the breastplate and backplate to support the weight of the heavier plate armour
Later versions were larger and designed to be worn over clothing
The best defence in life means nothing if it is eaten away by time and the elements, or even attacked from the inside. And so it is with your own armour! Humidity, expansion and contraction in the heat, UV radiation, rain, and the withering blows of your enemies all conspire to expose your armour to rust, but worse yet, your very own precious bodily fluids conspire to corrode it from the inside with their impurities and corruption! (which is why we only ever drink pure grain alcohol or rainwater)
You could coat your armour (and other metal objects) in a regular run of the mill lubricant, but many of them are actively hydrophobic. Great for metal but terrible for leather, cotton and other organic materials!
Lanox MX4 is a lanolin rich lubricant, and lanolin is the oil that is naturally produced by sheep to prevent them from shrinking in the rain and generally remain weather proof! It is superior to many artificial compounds and does not damage leathers or organic fibres.

Life as a mercenary has made you into a hardened and effective warrior, and while some call it ‘luck’ when your enemy’s sword slides off your Epic Dark Barbuta, you call it strategy. After all, now your enemy’s heart is a wide open target.

Epic Armoury’s Visored Barbuta is a gracefully curved full-helmet with a distinctive visor. The visor is movable and can be flipped up over the helmet. Whether up or down, the visor can be locked in place with a pin-and-chain. The visor has two rectangular eye-slits, flat nose and a large Maltese-Cross breathing-hole. Wrought to follow the shape of the head and reinforced with a low crest from forehead to neck, the helmet is elegant while still being comfortable to wear.

The Barbuta was used mainly by the flamboyant Italian mercenaries of the renaissance and was favoured with light troops for the mix of protection and excellent visibility. Made to wear with renaissance style clothes, it has a high-fantasy feel that will fit with a lot of characters.
