The mercenary roared in pain as my rapier found a weak spot in his armour. In a last effort of fearful rage, he drew his rondel dagger and made a forceful thrust. In a fraction of the following moment, I felt the blade sing as my gorget reflected the blade. A scratched armour is better than a fatal wound, I thought, as the fight continued.

The Captain Gorget is a minor but essential armour piece, available in glorious Polished Steel and grim Epic Dark. It is fitted with strings designed to attach the Captain Pauldrons or other tie-on armour shoulder pieces. The Captain Gorget is part of the Captain Armour Complete Set and is intended to pair with the Captain Cuirass, Captain Pauldrons, Captain Arm Protection, Captain Belt Shields and Captain Greaves.

DETAILS

This bestselling Epic Armoury Imperial Gambeson is a padded long-sleeve coat covering the torso from neck, down over the hips on front and back. It can be worn on its own or serve as essential padding under mail or armour. The gambeson is donned like a jacket and closed on the front with a system of cotton cords, allowing the wearer to customize the tightness of the fit. The arms are easily detachable by untying its cotton cords on the shoulders and sleeves, each cord secured through long-lasting brass eyelets.

Thick enough to serve as its own armour, this sturdy gambeson is constructed with heavy layers of fluffed cotton canvas sandwiched between dyed wool on the outside and softer cotton lining on the inside. All these layers are stitched together in vertical lines, keeping the padding in place and mimicking a classic European high-medieval style.

Though of European cut, gambeson or quilted-style armours have seen world-wide use since antediluvian times, making the Imperial Gambeson a great basic armour with a range of possibilities regardless of time and place.

Epic Armoury’s Captain Belt Shield are two plates designed to protect the thighs. These rolled edge steel plates hang from your own belt to cover the outer thighs, sliding into place using black leather loops securely fastened with rivets. Each plate is 25cm long and 19cm wide, with two 24cm folded leather loops.

The Captain’s Belt Shield armour features notches and overlapping welded plates, giving your armour a little extra detail that can be paired with a multitude of styles. The Epic Armoury Captain Chainmail is effortless to put on and is comfortable to wear in Larp battle. This flexible mail tunic has hand-stiched leather edging with a series of buckles in the front for a quick fit. The mail covers the body from the shoulder to the thighs and has long sleeves. Each butted ring interlocks with four other rings in a 4-in-1 design. The armpits are reinforced with riveted rings designed to cope with the weight when lifting your arms during combat. This chainmail can easily be worn over a gambeson for more comfort and to prevent bruising in battle.

The "Mina" line was made as an armour for women, drawing from historical and fantasy sources for inspiration.
The gorget is, just like the entire "Mina" series, built similary to the "Balthasar" series: decorations with rivets along the edge beading are a returning design element in both armours. Both armour series can easily be combined with each other. A slim built and swung lines provide a delicate shape to this gorget. It does not overlap with the chest plate or spaulders, so that you can use the space for creative costume pieces. It also offers more movability to this area. The gorget is being closed with a brass pin and a leather strap.

The gorget of the "Markward" series is not only special because of its rather technical design, it also differs in its construction from conventional plate gorgets. By a flexibly suspended throat element, the size can be varied there. This avoids that the gorget scrubs and presses on the throat. In addition, the two-part gorget was movably joined in the neck area. This also increases the wearing comfort significantly.

Simple Design, Great Protection

Epic Armoury’s Soldier Gorget is designed to sit around the neck, providing protection to the thorax and shoulders. Handmade and molded to sit comfortably on the shoulders, this gorget offers some of the best protection for the battlefield without being overly ornate. This design makes for a practical look, easily transferred between multiple costumes or to fit a simple medieval soldier.

The Soldier’s Gorget is made from two pieces, one side secured with a bolt and the other closed with an adjustable leather strap. Attach it to your gambeson by threading canvas ties through the leather shoulder plates. With regular leather and metal care you can expect this quality made armour to last for a long time!
