These are the "Markward" greaves, compatible to the rest of our "Markward" armour parts. They might be unadorned, but they look lean and elegant. Because of their simple design they fit many different armours and costumes you can combine them with.
As a squire, you must wake with the sun to prepare for your training. You are responsible for your master as well as your extra chores, and it's only after the morning's water is boiled and you've set out your master's clothing and polished armour that you are allowed to begin your drills.
What armour you own, a RFB Neck & Shoulders set, is easy enough for you to wear as you practice your sword swings. One day you will be a fearsome knight. For now, you must continue to train hard and build your skills.
Epic Armoury's Ready for Battle Neck and Shoulders is a simplified version of our neck plate armour, designed to protect the upper body while remaining comfortable and lightweight. A quilted cotton gorget sits comfortably around the neck and over the shoulders, providing padding beneath other metal armours or worn on its own. Each shoulder is then protected with the addition of a steel shoulderguard, polished to shine.
Secure the RFB Neck & Shoulders armour by tightening the cotton tie-strings, adjusting so that the gorget sits comfortably around the neck while the shoulderguards sit over the apex of your shoulders. Made of polished 1 mm thick mild steel and strong cotton, this armour piece is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular cotton and metal armour care.
Also referred to as a gorget, which means throat
Early versions were typically worn under the breastplate and backplate to support the weight of the heavier plate armour
A simple, but effective, armour for thigh and knee. Easy to combine with greaves, it offers good protection for your weaker part of the armoured body. The armour is strapped to the wearers hip by using belts and can be adjusted to the bodylength individually. The entire armour consists of eight pieces each and is therefore very flexible.
This small gorget was designed for young heroes and ladies - bigger necks will have difficulties fitting in there.
The gorget is being closed with a buckle on the right shoulder and opened on the left one. It is made with a short "turtle neck", having a completly different appearance as any other gorget on the market. There are no fixpoints for spaulders attached on this gorget.
The best defence in life means nothing if it is eaten away by time and the elements, or even attacked from the inside. And so it is with your own armour! Humidity, expansion and contraction in the heat, UV radiation, rain, and the withering blows of your enemies all conspire to expose your armour to rust, but worse yet, your very own precious bodily fluids conspire to corrode it from the inside with their impurities and corruption! (which is why we only ever drink pure grain alcohol or rainwater)
You could coat your armour (and other metal objects) in a regular run of the mill lubricant, but many of them are actively hydrophobic. Great for metal but terrible for leather, cotton and other organic materials!
Lanox MX4 is a lanolin rich lubricant, and lanolin is the oil that is naturally produced by sheep to prevent them from shrinking in the rain and generally remain weather proof! It is superior to many artificial compounds and does not damage leathers or organic fibres.
