HISTORY
- Used as the primary sword of Ancient Roman foot soldiers
- The design was inspired by swords used by people living in Hispania
- Was often paired with a shield
Gladiators often required simpler shields, but their simplicity made them no less effective
You strike your sword against your Gladiator Shield, shouting alongside your legionaries outside the gates of Syracuse. Inside, their people are filled with terror, deafened by your army’s trumpets and noise. Arrows rain down and you and your fellow soldiers form a barrier with your shields.
There is nothing that can stop you. The design of your shield allows you to stand in close formation, advancing on their defenders and dispatching them quickly.

This bestselling Epic Armoury Maintenance Silicone is used for maintenance of Live Action Role Playing foam weapons and equipment covered with latex and/or varnish.
Directions for use:
Latex equipment must be coated with a thin layer of silicone at all times. This prevents the surfaces from drying out, and will prolong the lifespan of your latex equipment. Always check your latex equipment before and after each use. Spray the silicone directly onto your latex product and work it into the entire surface (avoiding leather handles) either with a piece of cloth or using a flat hand. If necessary, wipe off any excess with a dry cotton cloth. Always store your latex equipment in a dry and dark place.

You just hope that your training will continue to serve you well. At the very least, you have confidence in the sharpness of your weapon.
DETAILS
Epic Armoury’s Roman Sword is a classic latex weapon inspired by the Ancient Roman legionnaires. The 65 cm double-edged blade has a central ridge and narrows toward the crescent-shaped crossguard. Sculpted and handpainted, the detailed crossguard protects the 13 cm split-leather handle. A fish-tail pommel caps this sword, painted to match the crossguard.
Made from durable closed cell foam around a fibreglass core and finished with a strong latex coating, you can feel confident that your LARP weapon will provide the safety and appeal you want when crafting your Roman-inspired kit.
Available in Gold, Copper, and Silver.
HISTORY
- The spatha was discovered by the Roman legions and adopted as their own weapons
- Exported to barbarous lands and used by such heroes as Siegfried, Beowulf, and Caradoc
You strike your sword against your rounded shield, shouting alongside your legionaries outside the gates of Syracuse.
Even if an arrow should find its way through the cracks, your Roman Legion armour will keep you entirely protected.
DETAILS
Epic Armoury’s Roman Legion is a flexible plate cuirass inspired by the lorica segmentata worn by the Ancient Roman infantry. The Roman Legion protects the torso and abdomen with overlapping, vertical lamellae. Large pauldrons protect the shoulders and upper arms while providing additional protection to the armpits and upper breast.
Secure the Roman Legion armour by tightening the leather strap across the chest and lacing the leather cord through brass fittings up the front abdomen. Made of polished 1 mm thick mild steel and top-grain leather straps, this armour piece is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather and metal armour care.
Available in sizes Medium and Large.
Note: The potblacking on the inside of the armour can rub off due to the segmented nature of the plates. This is unavoidable due to the segmented design, and the customer may wish to touch up the potblacking as part of ongoing maintenance.
Prices incl. GST. Shipping costs may apply.
