The Captain Pauldrons provide sovereign shoulder protection and are made from mild steel in Epic Dark and Epic Grey colours to emphasise honour and servitude. It is designed with a characteristic haute-piece that provides extra protection for the neck.

The Captain Pauldrons are part of the Captain Armour Complete Set and are intended to pair with the Captain Cuirass, Captain Gorget, Captain Arm Protection, Captain Leg Protection and Captain Belt Shields. The Captain Pauldrons are sold as a pair.

HISTORY

The word pauldron is derived from the Old French words espauleron, which means a shoulder-plate, and espaule, which means shoulder.

Though the King’s Guard usually protected the king in the throne room and beyond, a detachment was sometimes sent to reinforce the battle line. Kurt’s command was one of these detachments. Epic Armoury’s Mempo is a leather half-mask inspired by early Asian soldiers. This mask protects the face from the bridge of the nose to the chin. Four ventilation slits allow proper airflow through the mask’s mouth, designed to be comfortably worn for long periods of time. The Epic Armoury Jin Baori is a traditional open overcoat to be worn over a high-ranking samurai’s armour. Reaching from the shoulders to the mid-thigh and edged with broad golden bands along the collar and hem, this handsome garment adds detail and interest to an Asian-inspired costume. Fit shoulder armour outside the Jin-Baori by threading straps through the four eyelets located on the back and front. Each eyelet is clearly marked by golden edging, adding strength and aesthetic appeal.

On the back, the Jin-Baori has two slits allowing maximum mobility. These slits also allow a sword to hang comfortably from a belt beneath the coat. The garment is made of durable, but comfortable cotton with gold coloured cotton edging. Epic Armoury’s Dark Red Kimono is a traditional Japanese T-shaped robe with ¾ length sleeves made from heavy red cotton and a reinforced collar. Reaching from the shoulders to the upper thighs, this garment is a great base to an Ancestral costume. The Kimono is worn by tying the left over the right side, securing its cotton straps located on the inside and outside of the waist. The sleeves hang loose just above the wrists, leaving the hands free and allowing the greatest possible freedom of action.

Fully compatible with Epic Armoury's other Asian styles, the Kimono is a great basis for almost any samurai-inspired character you wish to make - be it honourable warrior or dishonoured thief.
