The rope groaned under its charge, a bundle of fibers holding up for dear life against the nearly one ton boulder it lifted high in the tree canopy, hidden from sight. Lyz wiped some sweat from her forehead, keeping her breathing under control despite the growing anxiety she could feel building up inside her. It took five of them to set the trap, and the other rangers watched carefully as she kept her blade against the rope, this fragile thing holding the massive rock they hauled in the branches. A big stone was all they needed to vanquish that foe, but it had to land perfectly. They wouldn't get a second chance. The red haired ranger was carefully listening to the forest, and she noticed the silence of the woods before she heard the stomping sound resonate through the soft ground. It was coming. The giant had followed their trail, just like they planned, but it was enormous, standing nearly 30 feet tall, with a wide bearded face, big flat tombstone-shaped teeth, and small porcine eyes scanning the forest for delicious meat to gorge on. The thing had made a meal out of a whole lumber camp a few days before. It had to die before it reached a village, and Lyz's family was living in the nearest one down the trail. 

Feeling her hunting knife slipping in her grip, Lyz quickly wiped her moist hands on her trousers, before lining the sharp edge against the rope, her green eyes locked on the lumbering form. Time seemed to slow down, and the rope creaked in agony, so loud it made the monster twitch and turn its head in her direction, almost as if it could see her through the foliage. It took a step, its ugly face distorting in anger and hunger. It knew! One of the younger rangers gasped in fear at the sight, and jumped out of cover, making a run for it in his panic. Lyz couldn't do anything to stop him, keeping her gaze on the target, and the subtle marker on the ground. Taking chase behind the fleeing ranger, the monster turned, returning on the trail. It was moving fast, too fast, his massive legs covering enormous ground in a single step. Unable to gauge the distance accurately, Lyz took a chance before the monster got out of range and cut the rope in one swift motion of her knife. Just as the giant leaned to grab the running ranger, the boulder fell from the canopy, landing with a thud at the base of his neck. Bone cracked and the monster collapsed face-first into the ground...defeated at last. Unfortunately for the young ranger, he couldn't move out of the fall in time. If only he followed Lyz's example and kept his nerves…

The design is meant to serve as a fashion accessory, a top layer of style that gives structure to the shoulders and an air of authority. Made from cotton and cut to include extra billowing fabric pleated at the shoulders, this cape features an open front so that your hands are left unimpeded while fighting--or ordering your guards to fight for you. The crossguard features an intricate curved design that protects a leather-like grip. This grip, wide by the crossguard and narrow toward the golden “scent stopper” pommel, is ergonomic in your hand.

Epic Armoury’s Ranger Quiver is a highly adjustable, beautifully ornamented quiver designed to carry a supply of arrows with you even during extreme maneuvers. It fits most LARP arrows and is made from chrome-tanned plated-leather with a soft split-leather exterior. Ornamental leather patches decorate this quiver at the top and bottom to give it an elven appearance. The circular bottom is stitched to the body with a similar flattened leather cord and brass rivets used along the top and down the side.

The Ranger Quiver is worn over the shoulder thanks to its 90 cm adjustable leather strap, brass-plated iron buckle, and 32 pre-punched holes. An additional 70 cm adjustable belt anchors the quiver around the waist, or to a baldric or pack. On the tenth night of the siege, the attackers revealed their true colours. Until now, they had attacked only in small skirmishes, climbing walls at various points to test the defenders' numbers and to spot any weakness. But on that fateful night, they unleashed a full-scale assault, showing to the castle inhabitants that they had colluded with a goblin horde to flesh out their army before the attack. Using goblin mercenaries was a clear sign of infamy, for the nasty little creatures were known cannibals, and thus would often deny an honourable surrender to the defenders. By hiring them, the attackers were aiming for a quick victory, the monster providing a clear numerical advantage, and the useful capacity to climb stone walls without any siege equipment. However, their plan backfired horribly.

At the first sight of the goblins, panic quickly spread among the denizens of Castle Valdemar. Everyone knew such a horde meant assured death for them all... if they managed to take the castle. As the walls were getting overwhelmed and breached at many points by the green tide, a mismatched troop of stalwart defenders emerged from the lord's armoury, clad in ill-sized armors and wielding mass-produced swords meant for levied troops. They were blacksmiths, stonemasons, apprentices, stable boys, maids, even scribes. Many had seen too many seasons, or too few, but spurred on by desperation, the brave mob swarmed across the wavering defences, helping the struggling guards and knights fend off the attack. By the next morning, the humiliated goblin horde, untrustworthy at their best, had abandoned the enemy camp, leaving with all their employer's supplies in the process. The siege was over. won by the valiant effort of those who picked up a sword and fought for survival.

The soldier sword is a versatile weapon that can suit a large array of fantasy characters in LARP. Its classic medieval design makes it a great choice for a first purchase, as it can be used for many themes, but its dark color can also make it a good pick for more sinister concepts.
