This formidable heater-style shield features a bold, traditional chevron design, hand-painted to reflect the aesthetics of the Middle Ages. The chevron pattern, rich in symbolic meaning, is painted on the front of the shield, used in many medieval heraldries.  

The sturdy frame, carved in foam and painted to resemble wood, is reinforced with strong leather edging, ensuring both resilience and a genuine look and feel. Equipped with comfortable leather straps for a secure grip, the Baron's Shield offers excellent maneuverability, giving you the freedom to fight with ease while remaining well-protected.

"Then we hold and wait for the auxilliaries, or die trying!" Roared back the general, as he struck another foe down with his hammer.

An Ancient Warrior

Epic Armoury’s Black Auxiliary Shield is a semi-curved shield taken from the ancient world of Roman legionnaires. Take up your oval shield and prepare to fight beside your fellow soldiers, relying on its 90 cm length to protect against wayward spears and arrows. Convince your friends to get their own and form a devastating shield wall!

The Black Auxiliary Shield is made of EVA foam and is handpainted with a glossy black finish and a metallic rim. The rim is sculpted to look like real iron, complete with small nail heads. The details continues on the backside, with a faux-metal rim around the reinforced punch grip. This grip is 14 cm long and wrapped in suede leather for a comfortable feel that can be used left- or right-handed! Keep your shield in great condition with regular latex maintenance.

The Black Auxilliary Shield  is Epic Armoury's offering for those that need a large shield, but also want to have a surface to customise to their team's or character's exacting requirements.

Fight in Formation

• Similar to an early Roman scuta, which was later developed into a rectangular shape
• The typical oval or rectangular scuta were dramatically concave, which offered a lot of protection while making the use of weapons somewhat difficult due to restricted arm movement
• The Shield Boss--the round, convex piece of material at the centre of the shield--was used to deflect blows

A thegn, or thane, is a soldier that has raised their rank through active service. A latin word that translates to "miles", it signified how much active duty the thane had actually done for their leige. Over time it changed meaning to simply become the local lord, and was eventually replaced in usage by the term "baron".

Hunting with the Pack

Epic Armoury’s White Wolf Norman Shield is an leaf-shaped shield inspired by Norman soldiers of the early 11th century, used during the Norman conquest of England. Also called a kite shield, this 115cm long shield is rounded at the top and narrows toward the bottom, perfect for mounted cavalry or field soldiers alike. This Live Action Role Play (LARP) safe shield is carved from EVA foam and coated in a layer of durable latex, and is designed to look like slats of true wood. A shield boss is attached to the front, as would have been common during the time of the First Crusade.

The Norman Shield has been hand painted white with a tribal red wolf design, faded and aged for the battlefield. Strap this shield onto your left or right arm thanks to the six adjustable, leather enarmes on the back. This is a great alternative to a punch grip, specifically used to compensate for the kite shield’s unique shape. Keep your shield in great condition with regular latex maintenance.

As scene on TV, the new round, punch grip shield from Epic Armoury isn't just a premium paint job, covering both the front and back. It has a newly designed, reinforced punch grip handle to last even longer, and has leather around the edges to ensure the longest lasting foam shields yet!

A Piece of Norman Warfare

• This shield is considered a ‘kite shield’
• The round-topped kite shield was popular in Europe during the 1000s, later spreading to the Middle East because of the First Crusade
• The shape of this shield would have been ideal for mounted cavalry to protect their left leg, as well as their shoulder and torso
• Associated with the Normans, who were the first to use this style of shield widely
• Made from laminated wood, stretched animal hide, and iron
• The Shield Boss--the round, convex piece of material at the centre of the shield--was used to deflect blows

As the Deathknight strode forward, he was met by a human warrior that towered over it at the crest of the hill, grim determination on its face.

"I am Bosrick, Champion of the Footmen of this city!" He bellowed as he smacked his mace against his shield.

"You are about to be worm food." the Deathknight grunted, the boredom writ upon his face.

SAVAGE SAFEGUARD

Taking inspiration from the semi-curved kite shaped shields used by the Normans of the early Middle Ages, the Maurauder Kite Shield works just as well for a goblin invader or a brutal orc from a high fantasy realm as it would for a battleworn European knight from the ninth century or a pillaging Viking.

Crafted from durable closed cell foam and coated with latex, this shield is more than ready for LARP battle. Sculpted and hand-painted with realistic details like scratches and notches, this shield features a dark matte metallic finish and metallic trim with rivets. A stylized cross appears at the center. Maintain your hold on this savage shield with the tri-position grip and adjustable buckle straps found on the inner side.

Designed to be the maximum allowable size under the Swordcraft rules set, this shield has the Epic Armoury tri-position grip to allow you to hold it no matter what style of shield bearer you need to be.

"I feel lied to, Alan!" Samuel yelled as another arrow pinged off the wide brim of his helm

"Not much for it now. It's not like we can stop halfway through and enjoy a slice of orange and a mug of water, is HAAAA!"

They both stared at the quivering shaft that now protruded from Alan's chainmail. The links were completely useless against the bodkin heads. The soldier sagged to his knees amoung the muck of the churned earth and fallen bodies, tears in his eyes as he grasped at the wood piercing him. Samuel rushed ot his side, grabbing Alan's wrists.

"No, you fool! You remove that and you'll just bleed out." He dropped to be level with Alan, both men in the mud as the battle raged on about both men. The din of the battle, it's clanging steel and screaming men faded away for Samuel as he held onto his brother-in-arms. 

"You were lied to, S-Sammy," Alan gasped "We... we were never..." 

Alan coughed blood as he whispered his last "Never going to make it to the...to the juice vault..."

Epic Armoury’s Crusader Shield is a semi-curved, kite-shield inspired by 10th to 12th century Normans. painted to look like naural wood with a white washed surface and a black washed cross running down the center, this shield will fit perfectly in the hands of a crusader or other religious infantry member for Larp.

Wear the Crusader Shield left- or right-handed with the use of its versatile three leather arm straps on the back, secured through hard EVA foam for a reliable and solid grip made to last. Feel confident that this latex shield will withstand the continued abuse of a LARP with regular latex maintenance.
