Life as a mercenary has made you into a hardened and effective warrior, and while some call it ‘luck’ when your enemy’s sword slides off your Faulds and Tassets, you call it strategy. After all, now your enemy’s heart is a wide open target.

DETAILS

Epic Armoury’s Faulds and Tassets are designed to protect the waist, hip and upper thigh from attacks that might leave you off balance, wounded, and vulnerable while on the battlefield. Don’t be an easy target for archers and rogues! This armour limits your weak spots without limiting your mobility thanks to the articulation of its bottom plate. Secured with two adjustable leather straps over the shoulders and another around the waist, these Faults and Tassets are designed to be comfortable for almost any size.

Made of 1 mm thick mild steel and top-grain leather belt. Straps are made in canvas for easier adjustments and lighter weight. Plating are oxidation resistant coated armour pieces built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather and metal armour care.

Your aura of darkness freezes the hearts of anyone who looks you in the eye. And your favorite? Someone is saying you made a deal with a devil so that you may never die.

You strap your armour over your Imperial Gambeson, preparing for battle. You will never tell them which stories might be true, but they can see for themselves your battle prowess once you step onto the field and dominate once more.

DETAILS

This Epic Armoury Imperial Gambeson is a padded long-sleeve coat covering the torso from neck, down over the hips on front and back. It can be worn on its own or serve as essential padding under mail or armour. The gambeson is donned like a jacket and closed on the front with a system of cotton cords, allowing the wearer to customize the tightness of the fit. The arms are easily detachable by untying its cotton cords on the shoulders and sleeves, each cord secured through long-lasting brass eyelets.

Thick enough to serve as its own armour, this sturdy gambeson is constructed with heavy layers of fluffed cotton canvas sandwiched between dyed wool on the outside and softer cotton lining on the inside. All these layers are stitched together in vertical lines, keeping the padding in place and mimicking a classic European high-medieval style.

Though of European cut, gambeson or quilted-style armours have seen world-wide use since antediluvian times, making the Imperial Gambeson a great basic armour with a range of possibilities regardless of time and place.

• Historically, a high-medieval European gambeson was recorded as being capable of stopping sword blows from penetrating the skin
• Could stop heavy arrows and mace and axe impacts with the addition of overlaying chainmail

You tighten your belt another notch over your Basic Pants, frowning at the watered-down soup over the fire. It’s been a long winter, and you and your family aren’t sure you’re going to have enough food. As you consider ways you might be able to afford some meat--maybe you can do some work for a merchant in town?--there’s an anxious knock on the door.

“Raiders!” shouts the messenger on your doorstep. “Raiders are coming! Every able person is being called to fight!”

Suddenly an empty belly is the least of your worries.

Epic Armoury’s Basic Pants are classic medieval-cut pants with a few convenient modern alterations, such as the sizeable pockets. Made from durable medium cotton, these pants feature adjustable cotton drawstrings along the hems to achieve the gathered effect so popular in medieval clothing.

The pants are fitted with a cotton drawstring at the waist to keep the pants in place while leaving sufficient room for a proper belt. The look is universal and can fit a barbarian invading Rome, a medieval mercenary or a renaissance harquebusier. The Basic Pants are fully compatible with other Epic Armoury clothes and armours, allowing you the freedom to personalize your character's gear.

Epic Armoury’s Mercenary Tassets are reminiscent of the typical pikeman armour of the late medieval and renaissance era. The piece consists of three broad metal plates overlapping each other to provide laminate protection for the hips and upper thigh. The tassets leave the pelvis somewhat unprotected, and normally a cod-piece would be added to protect the groin area. The tassets are secured in place with leather cords.

The Mercenary Tassets are designed to match Epic Armoury’s Mercenary Armour, and are the only tassets not fully interchangeable with other Epic Armoury metal products. Made of 1 mm thick mild steel and top-grain leather straps and fittings, this armour piece is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather and metal armour care.

The tassets for the "Galahad" armour set. Equipped with two buckles on the top, these tassets can be strapped to the front plate of the "Galahad" chestplate and cover the thighs.
Alternatively you may add them to any exsisting armour (which requires some handicraft works).

The plate pieces are made asymetrically, so each tassets has its place (left/right) to not interfere with the wearers movement.
Also you may paint your own heraldic colours on the tassets to show your side on the battlefield.

Epic Armoury’s Dreki Belt Shields are a set of tassets that can be paired with your own leather belt to act as detachable tassets- these robust rust covered steel plates efficiently protect the the front of your thighs and their detachable nature ensures unbridled--but protected--movement. With overlapping plates, rivets and its lean form, you can feel like a fantasy norsemen, braving the harsh wilderness and slaying ancient dragons among snow covered peaks.

The Dreki set has two colours, the primary being a Matte Polish and the secondary being Epic Dark, to highlight different aspects of the Dreki armour and again show its Nordic inspired roots. Made of 1 mm thick polished mild steel and top-grain leather straps and fittings, this armour piece is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather and metal armour care.

The best defence in life means nothing if it is eaten away by time and the elements, or even attacked from the inside.
And so it is with your own armour!
Humidity, expansion and contraction in the heat, UV radiation, rain, and the withering blows of your enemies all conspire to expose your armour to rust, but worse yet, your very own precious bodily fluids conspire to corrode it from the inside with their impurities and corruption! (which is why we only ever drink pure grain alcohol or rainwater)

You could coat your armour (and other metal objects) in a regular run of the mill lubricant, but many of them are actively hydrophobic. Great for metal but terrible for leather, cotton and other organic materials!

Lanox MX4 is a lanolin rich lubricant, and lanolin is the oil that is naturally produced by sheep to prevent them from shrinking in the rain and generally remain weather proof! It is superior to many artificial compounds and does not damage leathers or organic fibres.
