CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Natural horn products are ABSOLUTELY NOT DISHWASHER SUITABLE.

To clean, place in warm soapy water, and brush gently with a bottle brush. With use, the wax may begin to peel back from the wall naturally. It can easily be re-adhered by adding more wax. Purchase a block of pure bees wax and gently melt it onto the affected area, thumbing the area closed and sealed again.

Cracks in horn may be fixed with the application of dish-washer safe "ModPodge", available on request at your local Spotlight or craft store.

Do not use for hot beverages. Do not use for alcoholic beverages higher than 20% ABV. Do not place in boiling liquid or put boiling liquid inside horn. Do not drop. Consume contents responsibly.

Legend

The blizzard had risen earlier in the day and the icy wind petrified the fur that covered his armor. I watch the fog of my breath fade out in the crisp winter air. The deed was done, and I could rest. The glory of a battle well-fought and won, the primal rush of energy only battle could give a warrior such as I. They had been four against my one, but it would take their entire clan to stop but one of Clan Sigur’s mighty berserker! The bite of our steel, backed by our ferocious might was enough to stop this force, and it would be enough to stop any other. With a grunt of effort, I shoulder my mighty greatsword.

THE REST IS HISTORY!

The Northman was surprisingly agile and skilled. His sword expressed no hacking and hammering of fools. Rather, it pierced the air elegantly from behind the shield like a viper waiting for a moment of opportunity. The shield, covered in leather and painted with a swirly pattern, was applied in attacks that quickly outmanoeuvred opponents. I had heard stories of savage berserkers in the North. Instead, I witnessed refined techniques and sophisticated precision.

Epic Armoury’s GastiR Shield is made in collaboration with Lejre Land of Legends, a Danish centre for historical-archaeological research and communication. Compared to our previous Viking-inspired shields, the GastiR Shield is adjusted to improve authenticity on several factors: The shield boss size is slightly reduced for a better fit with a non-armoured hand. The shield front imitates a leather cover, based on research indicating that this was applied to shields for durability. The shield is available in four different patterns, all chosen from interpretations of shields depicted on the Oseberg Tapestry. While it is impossible to claim complete authenticity, we can confidently say this is our best attempt.

LEGEND

Everyone knows the story of the enchanted axe Ymir, the one that allowed Odin to defeat the ice giant of the same name. This ferocious weapon was later stolen by Loki. But few people know that the OdinAxe was created as a tribute to the god of gods to highlight this legendary fight against the giant.

This eponymously named Norse weapon embodies the pride and combat prowess of a fearsome warrior. In addition to the Celtic wolves on its blade, its handle features the symbols of Odin, namely his 2 crows Huginn and Muninn. On the pommel, we find a Valknut, the heart of Hrungnir, the knot of the dead and the knot of Odin. Linked to it, this symbol of three and nine evokes valor and death (in the sense of the liberation of the soul) and the roots of Yggdrasil (in the sense of the interconnection of the nine worlds of the Norse religion).

Thus, it is not surprising to find such a weapon among the arsenal of several factions of Scandinavian warriors. Its symbolism is energizing and even phenomenal, it is simply a fantastic creation.

Epic Armoury’s Dane Axe is a deadly 150 cm two-handed axe fit for swift viking raids and ideal for breaking up shield-walls and battle formations. It has a 22 cm long axe-blade with a 20 cm edge. The head is made of soft foam, reinforced with a harder foam core. It attaches to the wood textured shaft which is handpainted to look like real wood grain.
