HISTORY

• Round wooden style was predominantly used in the early European Middle Ages using light, non-splintering wood such as linden, fir, alder or poplar
• Iron rim was sometimes used as a way to reinforce the shield

Who never heard of the feats of the Moerr Rekkr Raudr d’Odinn, the Glorious Red Warriors of Odin? Everywhere they ventured, their chief, Torfa the Just, inspired respect both by his knowledge and by his actions. Attributing his valiance to Odin, god of victory, Torfa the Just, an outstanding Hilmir*, trained his warriors to the handling of the two-handed sword personally.

Clad in the traditional red tartan of their clan, a fur on their shoulder, and equipped with their two-handed sword, these braves lived for the glory of their name. No fight was declined, whether it was amical or mortal in nature, because it was to the challenger to announce his preference.

The viking sword comes from the universe of Seyrawyn, creation of Martial Grisé and Maryse Pepin. On their lands where many people coexist with druids and dragons, the legend says that Torfa the Just had accepted and won a challenge thrown down by the King of dragons himself. Thus, his fabulous two-handed sword would have been the ultimate price for his bravery.

Epic Armoury’s Viking Spear is a 190 cm latex spear with a long, leaf-shaped ridged spearhead. Handpainted and sculpted to give it a realistic look, the Viking Spear’s 40 cm spearhead appears to be attached to a long pole with metal bolts. A crossguard is attached to the head to protect your grip along the dark wood-coloured pole, while a matching metal pommel can be used to strike unsuspecting opponents when the spearhead is busy.

The best defence in life means nothing if it is eaten away by time and the elements, or even attacked from the inside.
And so it is with your own armour!
Humidity, expansion and contraction in the heat, UV radiation, rain, and the withering blows of your enemies all conspire to expose your armour to rust, but worse yet, your very own precious bodily fluids conspire to corrode it from the inside with their impurities and corruption! (which is why we only ever drink pure grain alcohol or rainwater)

You could coat your armour (and other metal objects) in a regular run of the mill lubricant, but many of them are actively hydrophobic. Great for metal but terrible for leather, cotton and other organic materials!

Lanox MX4 is a lanolin rich lubricant, and lanolin is the oil that is naturally produced by sheep to prevent them from shrinking in the rain and generally remain weather proof! It is superior to many artificial compounds and does not damage leathers or organic fibres.

Considered to be one of the most important pieces of armor, this helmet is inspired by 12th century design used by the Crusaders. Its simple design allows this helmet to be used perfectly in a variety of different genres and character-types. Made of 1 mm thick mild steel and top-grain leather straps and fittings, these armour is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather and metal armour care.

HISTORY

• Also referred to as a “cervelliere,” introduced during the late 12th century
• Pointed shape reminiscent of later “cervelliere” designs toward the 13th century
• Worn by commoners and non-professional soldiers due to its cheap and easy production
• Worn either alone or over a chainmail coif to protect the throat

Fear No One

Epic Armoury’s Persian Helmet is your solution for complete head protection. Inspired by ancient Asian armour, this helmet is made of 1 mm thick mild steel and features a tall bowled head with a pointed crest that has been capped with a decorative plate. A nasal guard extends up over the forehead and offers great protection to the face without limiting too much visibility, and it creates an impressive silhouette on the battlefield. It can be removed by loosening the front bolt.

A full chainmail aventail provides protection to both the neck and the face, and is hooked directly onto the helmet and around a strong band of metal that forms the two eye holes. These holes are wide for visibility! The chainmail is lined with leather around the eyes and in the front for comfort and to keep the links in place.

Secure the Persian Helmet by tightening the leather strap beneath the chin, keeping the helmet in place. An Off-White Persian Headband is included with your helmet, and can be strapped around the helmet’s crown and attached to the back using four holes in the metal.

Inspired by the Khula Khud

• An aventail is a veil of chainmail that attaches to the helmet and offers protection; it replaced the chainmail hood coif by the 14th century
• Khula Khuds were a type of helmet used by ancient western Asia, and included the use of an aventail
• Also very similar to a conical shaped Turban Helmet worn in the Ottoman Empire

Inspired by the historical helmets worn during the majority of the middle ages, the Norman Nasal Helmet features a decorated nasal plate which runs from the forehead down over the bridge of the wearer’s nose. Epic Armoury’s Viking Mask Helmet is a skull cap helmet inspired by the Vikings of the 10th century. The “spectacle” guard over the eyes provides great protection for the face while still allowing the wearer good vision. Reinforced with rivets, a combed apex, and a steel band around the rim, you can expect this helmet to stand up against the Roman Empire and its inferior states.
