Epic Armoury’s Churburg Shoulders are a set of two simple spaulders. The spaulders feature one solid metal plate--or lame--featuring a beveled bottom to turn away strikes from the arm. The spaulders are fastened with leather straps around the biceps and at the shoulder, attaching to a breastplate or gambeson.

The Churburg Shoulders are neutral in style and fully usable with other Epic Armoury metal products, giving you the freedom to customize your character’s costume. Made of 1 mm thick mild steel and top-grain leather straps and fittings, this armour piece is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather and metal armour care.

Epic Armoury’s Churburg Armour is a simple low-fantasy piece of armour protecting the front and back of the torso and abdomen. The plate rests at the waist and is sculpted to fit the body and add structural strength to the steel.

The Churburg Armour is embellished with a wide ‘V’ on the front to deflect attacks away from the head. It is fully usable with Epic Armoury’s other metal work products, giving you the freedom to customize your character’s costume. Made of 1 mm thick mild steel and top-grain leather straps and fittings, this armour piece is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather and metal armour care.

HISTORY

• Loosely based on the Churburg #13 breastplate, a historically famous armour set from the 14th century
• Historical inspiration was considered a “transitional” breastplate, meant to be worn with a lot of chainmail
• Our version is much bigger than the original, protecting the entire chest

You look down the line of soldiers, knowing that their fate and the fate of your entire unit is dependent on your word. It is quite a heavy burden, far heavier than the magnificently polished steel Milanese Pauldrons on your shoulders.

“We must fight!” you shout for all to hear. “For our homes and for our families, we will fight until we can fight no more!” With a resounding cheer, your soldiers ready themselves for the charge. You withdraw your weapon, finding your resolve and setting your gaze upon the enemy.

Epic Armoury’s Polished Steel Milanese Pauldrons are a pair of simple low-fantasy shoulderguards. The pauldrons rest on top of the shoulders and cover the upper arms and a large portion of the upper back. Both are attractively curved to add structural strength to the steel while maintaining flexibility thanks to the overlapping plates. Asymmetrical in design, the left pauldron is fitted with a vertical plate designed to protect the head from glancing blows. These steel riveted pieces have been polished to a high-gloss finish to appeal to the knights in shining armour.

The Milanese Pauldrons are embellished with a top beveled plate to further deflect attacks, as well as a chain pin to attach an insignia. Secure them by tying the canvas ties to a breastplate or gambeson, and pulling the leather straps tight around the upper arms. They are fully usable with Epic Armoury’s Milanese Armour set, as well as other Epic Armoury metal work products, giving you the freedom to customize your character’s costume. The best defence in life means nothing if it is eaten away by time and the elements, or even attacked from the inside.
And so it is with your own armour!
Humidity, expansion and contraction in the heat, UV radiation, rain, and the withering blows of your enemies all conspire to expose your armour to rust, but worse yet, your very own precious bodily fluids conspire to corrode it from the inside with their impurities and corruption! (which is why we only ever drink pure grain alcohol or rainwater)

You could coat your armour (and other metal objects) in a regular run of the mill lubricant, but many of them are actively hydrophobic. Great for metal but terrible for leather, cotton and other organic materials!

Lanox MX4 is a lanolin rich lubricant, and lanolin is the oil that is naturally produced by sheep to prevent them from shrinking in the rain and generally remain weather proof! It is superior to many artificial compounds and does not damage leathers or organic fibres.
