DETAILS

Epic Armoury’s Ranger Sword is a long latex-hybrid sword inspired by medieval weapons and fantasy lore alike. The sword is 105 cm long and has a 80 cm blade. The crossguard features an intricate curved design that protects a leather-like grip. This grip, wide by the crossguard and narrow toward the golden “scent stopper” pommel, is ergonomic in your hand.

Whether you are an elven scout or a rugged ranger, this Ranger Sword is one of our highest quality products due to its impressive durability and detail. The blade is made from closed cell foam around a fibreglass core and finished with a strong latex coating, while the handle is a polyurethane foam cast that allows for greater detail and no maintenance. This hybrid model sword will give you confidence in the safety and appeal of your weapon on the battlefield.

HISTORY

• Commonly referred to as a “broadsword,” which is actually a historically incorrect term
• Inspired by the two-handed longsword of the late medieval and Renaissance era, but with a slightly shorter blade

The rope groaned under its charge, a bundle of fibers holding up for dear life against the nearly one ton boulder it lifted high in the tree canopy, hidden from sight. Lyz wiped some sweat from her forehead, keeping her breathing under control despite the growing anxiety she could feel building up inside her. It took five of them to set the trap, and the other rangers watched carefully as she kept her blade against the rope, this fragile thing holding the massive rock they hauled in the branches. A big stone was all they needed to vanquish that foe, but it had to land perfectly. They wouldn't get a second chance. The red haired ranger was carefully listening to the forest, and she noticed the silence of the woods before she heard the stomping sound resonate through the soft ground. It was coming. The giant had followed their trail, just like they planned, but it was enormous, standing nearly 30 feet tall, with a wide bearded face, big flat tombstone-shaped teeth, and small porcine eyes scanning the forest for delicious meat to gorge on. The thing had made a meal out of a whole lumber camp a few days before. It had to die before it reached a village, and Lyz's family was living in the nearest one down the trail. 

Feeling her hunting knife slipping in her grip, Lyz quickly wiped her moist hands on her trousers, before lining the sharp edge against the rope, her green eyes locked on the lumbering form. Time seemed to slow down, and the rope creaked in agony, so loud it made the monster twitch and turn its head in her direction, almost as if it could see her through the foliage. It took a step, its ugly face distorting in anger and hunger. It knew! One of the younger rangers gasped in fear at the sight, and jumped out of cover, making a run for it in his panic. Lyz couldn't do anything to stop him, keeping her gaze on the target, and the subtle marker on the ground. Taking chase behind the fleeing ranger, the monster turned, returning on the trail. It was moving fast, too fast, his massive legs covering enormous ground in a single step. Unable to gauge the distance accurately, Lyz took a chance before the monster got out of range and cut the rope in one swift motion of her knife. Just as the giant leaned to grab the running ranger, the boulder fell from the canopy, landing with a thud at the base of his neck. Bone cracked and the monster collapsed face-first into the ground...defeated at last. Unfortunately for the young ranger, he couldn't move out of the fall in time. If only he followed Lyz's example and kept his nerves…

Marius had been at the head of the household's guards for nearly three decades. Now far in his sixties, the wisened man-at-arms was easy to overlook. Crushed by the weight of years, he stood a few inches shorter than during his youth, and he had more grey than brown in his hair, whom he kept tightly in a single braid cascading between his shoulders. At first glance, he sure appeared sturdy for an old-timer but was way past his prime, with a stout granddad's body filling his gambeson armour. However, the veteran soldier seemed well respected by his warriors and was treated with the utmost reverence by the lord as well as his children. Most people assumed it was the reward for his long service in the household, but anytime Marius was forced to draw his blade, they understood very quickly that the captain of the guard wasn't in charge simply because of seniority.

This old weapons master was blessed with an elephant's memory, but he didn't care much about books or lore. What he learned were movements and patterns. Over his long lifetime fighting for his lord, he had used every weapon he could think of, fought in every kind of battle, seen countless fighters in action. It has been a long time since the man-at-arms had been surprised by anything in combat, and thus, he could easily predict his opponent moves like some sort of oracle, always slightly ahead. Even if he wasn't as fast or as strong as he used to be, he always knew the exact move to counter his enemy's strikes, and would often end any combat with a single perfectly-timed decisive blow. He wasn't fancy, he wasn't flashy, but he was deadly. The sturdy bastard sword he carried at his hip was all he needed to shut down anyone questioning his worth, and watching him draw it was always a lesson in humility for the ones that let his looks influence their judgement.
