DETAILS
Epic Armoury's Ready for Battle Neck and Shoulders is a simplified version of our neck plate armour, designed to protect the upper body while remaining comfortable and lightweight. A quilted cotton gorget sits comfortably around the neck and over the shoulders, providing padding beneath other metal armours or worn on its own. Each shoulder is then protected with the addition of a steel shoulderguard, polished to shine.
Secure the RFB Neck & Shoulders armour by tightening the cotton tie-strings, adjusting so that the gorget sits comfortably around the neck while the shoulderguards sit over the apex of your shoulders. Made of polished 1 mm thick mild steel and strong cotton, this armour piece is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular cotton and metal armour care.
HISTORY
- Also referred to as a gorget, which means throat
- Early versions were typically worn under the breastplate and backplate to support the weight of the heavier plate armour
The Ready for Battle Round shield is a great shield for those starting out. Thick foam provides plenty of durability and colour choices allow for easy team identification
The monstrous undead with a hammer the size of your head has you in his sights, and you’ve found yourself standing without an ally. Your usual tactic involves skirting around the battle, picking your fights strategically. Now there is no time.
You duck beneath the first blow, keeping your RFB Round Shield between the hammer and your soft body. You’re faster than the rotting monstrosity, but in your desperation you trip and roll. Again the hammer falls, and you raise up your shield to catch the force. Your shield holds, buying time while your friends finally come to your aid.
DETAILS
Epic Armoury’s RFB Round Shield is a versatile round latex shield inspired by skilled pre-10th century soldiers. This 50 cm round shield has a neutral design befitting many character types, sculpted to look rimmed with studded iron. Hand painted black and red, it mimics a traditional heraldry design.
Wear this RFB Round Shield left-handed with the use of two canvas arm straps on the back, secured through hard EVA foam for a reliable and solid grip made to last. Feel confident that this latex shield will withstand the continued abuse of a LARP with regular latex maintenance.
HISTORY
- Round wooden style was predominantly used in the early European Middle Ages using light, non-splintering wood such as linden, fir, alder or poplar
- Iron rim was sometimes used as a way to reinforce the shield
As a squire, you must wake with the sun to prepare for your training. You are responsible for your master as well as your extra chores, and it’s only after the morning’s water is boiled and you’ve set out your master’s clothing and polished armour that you are allowed to begin your drills.
What armour you own--RFB Padded Armour--is easy enough for you to wear as you practice your sword swings. One day you will be a fearsome knight. For now, you must continue to train hard and build your skills.
DETAILS
Epic Armoury’s Ready-for-Battle Padded Armour is a long padded, sleeveless coat covering the body from the shoulders to the upper thighs. Made from quilted cotton canvas lined with a soft polyester interior and a medium cotton outer layer, this padding can be worn on its own or as padding beneath heavy steel or leather armour. Suede split-leather lining at the neck prevents tearing or splitting with excessive wear against armour, while also adding additional comfort to the neck.
The RFB Padded Armour is stitched to ensure the padding will remain evenly spaced. This coat provides ease of movement thanks to the slitted front, back and sides. Adjust it to your size by tying the cotton straps at the hips. With its neutral style, the RFB Padded Armour will work on a wide variety of characters. Match it with other Epic Armoury armours and clothes to fit your unique style!
HISTORY
- Used as padding under chainmail or plate armour
- Historically, a high-medieval European gambeson was recorded as being capable of stopping sword blows from penetrating the skin
- Could stop heavy arrows and mace and axe impacts with the addition of overlaying chainmail
You bear the heavy weight of the Empire upon your shoulders.
The hardship of taking new lands, the horror of putting down insurrection. It's almost all you can do to carry it.
It's the least they can do to ensure you look this good doing it.
A Noble’s Neck Protection
Epic Armoury’s Green Noble Leather Gorget is a gorget designed to sit around the neck, providing protection to the thorax and shoulders. Molded to sit comfortably around the neck and rest on the shoulders, this gorget offers some of the best protection for the battlefield. Overlapping leather provides more coverage, while the green velvet lining and the scalloped edges give this armour a rich appearance. The brass knobs along the neck and beneath the collarbone are used to attach the matching Noble Bevor for a complete look.
Secure the Noble Gorget by sliding it over the head and sitting it comfortably over the shoulders. Made of thick, hardened top-grain leather, this armour piece is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather care.
HISTORY
- Also referred to as a gorget, which means throat
- Early versions were typically worn under the breastplate and backplate to support the weight of the heavier plate armour
- Later versions were larger and designed to be worn over clothing
The lined Nimue ("nmWAY") gorget is ideal for the cold days of the year.
Made with a warm wool synthetic blend, it protects well from wind and weather and blends seamlessly with 2019 winter fashions. The edge of the gorget is fringed with fluffy faux fur. The Nimue is closed with a suede strap and a brass buckle.
The padded nature of this mantle also makes the wearing of pauldrons, gorgets, and bevors significantly more comfortable even without a gambeson.
