The street is a hard place to conduct business, but it’s a way of life you’ve become very good at keeping. Unfortunately, a poor ol’ sap hasn’t paid his dues. You’re an understanding sort, but you can’t risk looking soft. Not on the street.
So, you decide to give the ol’ sap a visit. Adjusting your grip on your Barmace and preparing your most intimidating look, you don’t expect this meeting to last very long. You’ll get your money today or the chap will be missing a few teeth. You’ll let him decide.
DETAILS
Epic Armoury’s Barmace is a rough-looking bludgeoning weapon with four long flanges. The mace is 69 cm long from point to pommel, with four 55 cm reinforced flanges running from the tip of the weapon to the crossguard. The mace is finished with a rough, steel-coloured latex coating to give it an impression of a weapon capable of crushing heavy armour while in the hands of a seasoned footman, or to serve as the essential accessory in a highway robbery. The round split-leather wrapped handle is 15 cm long and framed by a small crossguard and a flat ringed pommel.
The style is great for rough and ready warriors who rely on experience and plain power, or for the Orc who needs a ferocious-looking mace. Made from durable closed cell foam around a solid fibreglass core and finished with a strong latex coating, you can feel confident that your LARP weapon will provide the safety and appeal you want when crafting your battlefield kit.
HISTORY
- Similar bar mace was found in an excavation of the Thames River from around 1300 A.D.
- Flange and weight would have been designed to penetrate armour
- Maces were first designed to cause harm without penetrating armour due to the force of their blows
The monstrous undead with a hammer the size of your head has you in his sights, and you’ve found yourself standing without an ally. Your usual tactic involves skirting around the battle, picking your fights strategically. Now there is no time.
You duck beneath the first blow, keeping your Wooden Buckler between the hammer and your soft body. You’re faster than the rotting monstrosity, but in your desperation you trip and roll. Again the hammer falls, and you raise up your Wooden Buckler to catch the force. Your small shield holds, buying time while your friends finally come to your aid.
DETAILS
Epic Armoury's Wooden Buckler is a small, versatile round shield, inspired by skilled swordsmen through history. This 40 cm buckler has a neutral design befitting many character types, sculpted and painted to look like a wooden shield, reinforced with a round shield boss in the centre.
Use this Wooden Buckler left- or right-handed with the split-leather wrapped punch grip hidden behind the shield boss. The 14 cm handle is secured through hard EVA foam for a reliable and solid grip made to last. Feel confident that this latex shield will withstand the continued abuse of a LARP with regular latex maintenance.
HISTORY
- Originally developed for Bucellarii, personal armies of rich landowners in the late Roman Empire
- Particularly popular with light-footed fighters during the Renaissance and Baroque eras
- Used the Shield Boss--the round, convex piece of material at the centre of the shield--to deflect blows
You were a warrior who once carried a sword, but too often did you find yourself against an armoured opponent. No more. Now you carry a Short Mace.
This weapon was designed to destroy even the most heavily armoured enemy, relying on brute strength to batter and bludgeon. After all, you can disarm someone without cutting off their limb--all you must do is break an arm or two.
DETAILS
Epic Armoury’s Short Mace is a 70cm one-handed mace with a utilitarian design. It features a small head with pointed flanges, sculpted and hand painted to look like real metal. The head is actually made of soft foam, reinforced with a harder foam core. It attaches to the realistic wood grain shaft, hand painted and sculpted to look like dark wood reinforced by riveted metal. The grip has been wrapped in suede leather for the greatest comfort.
Made from durable closed cell foam around a solid fibreglass core and finished with a strong latex coating, your new LARP mace will provide the safety and appeal you want when crafting your Sovereign kit.
HISTORY
- A traditional mace flange would have been designed to penetrate armour
- Maces were first designed to cause harm without penetrating armour due to the force of their blows
- Commonly made of iron, but also occasionally copper and bronze
