Epic Armoury's unique Chainmail Sleeves are perfect to wear combined with torso armor or worn alone as added protection in battle. The mail protects the arms, shoulders and upper chest against all attacks while keeping you light and nimble in combat.

This chain armor is made from natural untreated steel butted 4-in-1 rings and has riveted flattened rings under the arms to prevent premature tear in battle. The chainmail is embellished with leather trim and attaches in the front by a series of buckles for a quick fit. For additional comfort when going to war, wear this chainmail over your gambeson.

The best defence in life means nothing if it is eaten away by time and the elements, or even attacked from the inside.
And so it is with your own armour!
Humidity, expansion and contraction in the heat, UV radiation, rain, and the withering blows of your enemies all conspire to expose your armour to rust, but worse yet, your very own precious bodily fluids conspire to corrode it from the inside with their impurities and corruption! (which is why we only ever drink pure grain alcohol or rainwater)

You could coat your armour (and other metal objects) in a regular run of the mill lubricant, but many of them are actively hydrophobic. Great for metal but terrible for leather, cotton and other organic materials!

Lanox MX4 is a lanolin rich lubricant, and lanolin is the oil that is naturally produced by sheep to prevent them from shrinking in the rain and generally remain weather proof! It is superior to many artificial compounds and does not damage leathers or organic fibres.

Epic Armoury's new Epic Black Alaric Chainmail is a flexible mail armour shirt made from linked steel rings. The mail covers the body from the shoulder to the thighs, and has long sleeves protecting the arms to the wrists. Each butted ring interlocks with four other rings in a 4-in-1 design, while the armpits are reinforced with riveted rings designed to cope with additional stress. Treated with Epic Armoury’s Dark Metal coat to prevent rust, you can expect this armour to last a long time as reenactment gear with proper metal care.

This classic 4-in-1 pattern short-sleeved chain mail was built for average sized adults. It is wide enough to be worn on top of a padded gambeson.

The sleeves cover some 2/3 of the arms - still being considered a short sleeve chain mail - and reaches down to the middle of your thigh.

We suggest to wear this chain mail with an average chest circumference from 90cm to 120cm, once gambeson is factored in. This way it can be worn in combination with a padded gambeson and can extend itself to a maximum width of 140cm circumference. A belt can help to distribute the weight properly.

The shiny version is fully galvanized and does not rust. Oiled and browned chainmails are ungalvanized and are supplied with a high lubrication. Please remove the excess oil before first use.

Ungalvanized chain shirts should be treated regularly with oil like Lannox MX4.

This flexible mail tunic has hand-stiched leather edging with a series of buckles in the front for a quick fit. The mail covers the body from the shoulder to the thighs and has long sleeves. Each butted ring interlocks with four other rings in a 4-in-1 design. The armpits are reinforced with riveted rings designed to cope with the weight when lifting your arms during combat. This chainmail can easily be worn over a gambeson for more comfort and to prevent bruising in battle.

This butted chain mail torso armour is the perfect defence for the Larp soldier already equipped with arm protection. Round rivets secure the rings into a traditional 4-in-1 pattern for outstanding durability in Larp Combat. The coat of mails falls to around the soldiers mid-thigh and can be opened from the front like a jacket using leather straps and strong buckles.
