Epic Armoury’s Hourglass Demi Gauntlets are a set of mild steel gloves designed to protect the wrist and back of the hand in combat without compromising manoeuvrability. Each gauntlet is forged to fit comfortably over the hand, overlapping the first knuckles with a thick metal plate decorated with shiny metal rivets. A short vambrace protects the wrist.

Made from polished mild steel with rolled edges, these demi gauntlets are impressive and affordable. With its low-fantasy and neutral appearance, these Hourglass Demi Gauntlets are easily paired with other Epic Armoury metal works.
HISTORY
- Various forms of gauntlets have been around for millennia, but reached a pinnacle during the early renaissance
- Historically used by soldiers and knights and considered an essential piece of armour
- Demi gauntlets allowed better dexterity than a full gauntlet, while sacrificing the safety of the fingers
You strike your sword against your rounded shield, shouting alongside your legionaries outside the gates of Syracuse. Inside, their people are filled with terror, deafened by your army’s trumpets and noise. Arrows rain down and you and your fellow soldiers form a barrier with your shields.
There is nothing that can stop you. The design of your shield allows you to stand in close formation, advancing on their defenders and dispatching them quickly. Even if an arrow should find its way through the cracks, your Troy Helmet will keep you protected.
DETAILS
Epic Armoury’s Troy Helmet is a steel helmet inspired by the armour worn by the ancient hoplites. Featuring a horsehair plumed crest and protective cheek- and nasal-guards, this round steel-capped helmet is both impressive and practical. The shape of the helmet provides exceptional protection while granting the wearer clear vision.
Secure the Troy Helmet by tightening the leather strap beneath the chin, keeping the helmet in place. Made of 1 mm thick galvanized mild steel and top-grain leather straps and fittings, this armour piece is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather and metal armour care.
HISTORY
- Worn by the Hoplites in the ancient Hellenic World around the Battle of Troy
- Some speculative ancient writers suggest this style of helmet was also worn by the warrior women of Africa
- Also referred to as a chalcidian helmet
Someone might say that you are a cruel person. The truth is that you aren’t cruel--but you certainly aren’t a hero, either. The Battle of Delle is not one for your homeland or for your own people, but the pay is good and the fighting even better.
Life as a mercenary has made you into a hardened and effective warrior, and while some call it ‘luck’ when your enemy’s sword slides off your Merc Armour, you call it strategy. After all, now your enemy’s heart is a wide open target.
DETAILS
Epic Armoury’s Shoulderplates are a set of two shoulder guards with spaulders. The spaulders have three ridged metal plates--or lames--overlaying one another to provide laminate protection of the upper arms. The shoulderplates are fastened with leather straps around the biceps and at the shoulder blade, attaching to a breastplate. Epic Armoury breast- and backplates can be purchased separately and have fittings for mounting the shoulders.
The Mercenary Shoulderplates are designed to match Epic Armoury’s Mercenary Armour, but is fully usable with other Epic Armoury metal products, giving you the freedom to customize your character’s costume. Made of 1 mm thick mild steel and top-grain leather straps and fittings, this armour piece is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP or reenactment with regular leather and metal armour care.
HISTORY
- Plate armour became more popular as firearm technology became more prevalent during the 13th century
- Historically designed with sculpted ridges and overlapping plates to provide reinforced protection and to deflect attacks on a chaotic battlefield
Intimidation. It’s your main form of weaponry while facing the heroes, because it gives you full control. When your enemies fear you, they are more likely to make fatal mistakes.
Your Dark Drake Armour is as dark as your intentions, hardened by the evil magic your subjects provide. As you withdraw your sword, sizing up the quivering soldier who feels brave enough to stand against you, you begin to laugh. This will be a very brief fight--if you can even call it that. The little man looks barely strong enough to hold up his hammer.
DETAILS
Epic Armoury’s Dark Drake Breastplate is a finely sculpted piece of armour that protects the front of the torso, chest and abdomen. Sculpted to fit the body and add structural strength to the steel, this galvanized steel piece has been decorated to mimic reptilian scales. The plate rests at the hips and has a V-shaped flange--or sword turner--that deflects blows from the weak spot where torso and leg armour fit together. The armour is made from rolled mild steel treated with Epic Armoury’s Epic Dark Metal coat, which gives the armour a rugged, antique finish.
